Why did we get rid of Wes Welker again?????

Whenever i hear these posts of "why did we get rid of Welker?", it always reminds me of those countless fans screaming "Why did we pass on drafting Randy Moss?'

The anwer to both is of course that we didnt.
Wow, I am on here pretty often, not so much in After draft through Summer, and I really dont remember any posts of this???
Well **** me then!!!!

We have our own Wes Welker. Put Bess on that team in the same role = same results. Slot receiver is not the reason we're 0-3.

Get a clue. Bess is nowhere near Wes welker.

That was the stupidest trade the Dolphins ever made.

Welker was one of the fastest players to reach 10,000 all purpose yards only trailing Marshall Faulk and a few other in the history of the league. And he was ours. And we traded him for virtually nothing. Everyone said he doesn't score TD's. Well he does with the right QB.

I doubt the Chargers are wondering why they didn't keep Welker...

don't see any Chargers on this list but you see one of the top 5 receivers in the league.

Receiving YardsComplete List
WEL219433-1.jpg
1. Wes Welker NE458
2. Mike Wallace PIT377
3. Steve Smith CAR349
4. Andre Johnson HOU316
5. Kenny Britt TEN289

THIS is why I didn't want to get rid of Ted Ginn Jr.

I hated that ****ing guy and wanted him gone...never wanted to draft him in the first place...but the very minute we traded fro Brandon Marshall I knew what a REAL genuine threat Ted Ginn could be with Brandon Marshall on the outside.

Ginn's not the #1 guy in SF...He's a real genuine threat there? laughable. Besides being a returner, Ginn is worthless as a WR.

somebody said this to me the other day and my natural response was that he wouldnt do what he is doing in miami like he is in NE cus of NE offense and tom brady.

plain and simple.

here is an idea if sparano or daboll were paying attention. why not have bess mirror routes welker runs? there is no reason why bess cannot be similar in stature as welker.

Reasons would include that Bess is slower than Welker, and less elusive.

There was plenty of that back then. People womdered why JJ wouldn't take a chance on Moss, when he fancied himself so good with head case players. I guess he thought Lawrence Phillips and Cecil Collins were better bets!

If Welker had stayed with the QB's we had at the time he would be hanging out with Beebe & Cherbet, who both got hit so much going over the middle they don't know their name anymore.

There is a small wide receiver for the ASU Sun Devils named Aaron Pflugrad who is going to be the "next Wes Welker." I see the Patriots getting small fast guys like Welker, Woodhead and Edelman, and I think we need a guy like this.....would be a nice sleeper pick for us next year....he can catch it from the slot and also go downfield. He has great hands and finds ways to get open....I also like QB Brock Osweiler at QB in 2013.

Check out Pflugrad

Bunch of legitimate answers but for anyone jumping in now, here's the reader's digest version

A fleeing Saban told his butt buddy Belicheat to sign FA Wes.. so if not on NE radar before, he was thanks to Benedict Saban

Patriots slipped in a poison pill making resigning him a financial burden

Fins jumped on salvaging a better Pats' offer in a phony show of generosity after having them wedge our backs to the wall with that Steve Hutchinson level poison pill, than just ending up with a crappy low compensatory pick to show for it.

Welker out of the box turned turncoat by stating at his introductory presser that he always wanted to be a Cheatriot.

End of saga.

How about you get a clue and do a little research into the "trade." NE didn't have to give us a damn thing.

That takes too much thought and is too complicated. It's easier to just scream that we "gave him away" or "traded him for nothing" without any regards for actual facts.

Bottom line is that if we had put a 1st round tender on him instead of a 2nd the Patriots would have never made the offer and created the pill. We tried to save $500,000 and we lost the leading receiver in the NFL.

Would he be the NFL's leading receiver on our team? Probably not. But he is better than anyone we have currently.
And we gave him away to save 500K. Morons

Did anyone watch the Patriots replay. Welker was sick on that last drive. Converting 2 4th downs, contorting his body to make catches without letting the defender hit him. He is top 5 right now and we were fools to let him go.

If Miami had kept Welker, he wouldn't be leading the league in passing today. Welker with Miami fumbled a lot, wasn't nearly as fast as he his now, and he would suck with Henne right now.
