I know this post is bringing up acient history, but Just a thought after watchn some highlights today... this guy is a quality runner and reciever for a fullback, I'm not sure about his blocking though, always thought it was OK... anyway just seems to me that Saban wasn't thinkin when he let him go...thoughts

Why did we let welker and larry izzo go? Hindsight is always 20/20. However when you change coaches 4-5 times in the past 10 years, what you now see is the end result.

we let him go because he was awful for us. If I remember correctly, he did a poor job catching the ball, was a poor blocker, and got penalized quite a bit.

With the Pats and Saints, he wasn't really used heavily as a blocker, but we neeeded him to be a blocker.

Just wondering if anyone knows why, he looked like a good player when he was with Miami for a few games... Welker was a compensation issue, stupid cause we shoulda just paid the man, but we were outbid by NE and the 2nd and 7th sounded good to us at the time...not sure about Izzo... thx for the insight

because he's nothing special. Evans doesnt get all those 3-4th and shorts like Pôlite did all of last year...FB's are expendable and can be found off the streets. you do get special guys ounce in a while but Evans wasnt one of them.

I'm not sure about his blocking, but his recieving and running skills were good for a fb, and I remember him performing well for us in those aspects

Not sure about that, I think he'd be a player that would do well in our offence right now, I would think maybe his blocking wasn't up to par, or Saban's a f****** idiot, probably the latter

he is good now, but with us he was not. He continuously would either drop passes from Gus-Gus, or he would get a one yard gain.

The way I see it, there's nothing Evans can do that Ricky or Ronnie cant so in a way, I'd rather have Ronnie AND Ricky on the field at the same time than put one of them on the bench to give Evans playing time...

I recall him havin a 100d game on us with the pats the same yr we cut him.

Why didnt we draft Boldin, Brees or whoever the F was available... ?Why didnt we get Brees instead of Culp? On top of THAT you start a thread about Heath freakin' Evans? I'm baffled as to why you'd bring him up! F'ing Heath Evans??? WOW!

relax, just asking a question that I thought someone may have a logical response to... I'm not questioning our whole drafting or FA fiascos of the past decade... if you don't like the thread then you don't have to respond, thats how these boards work
