on that last penalty? I thought the rule was always that there is a 10 second run off in the final 2 min of play if the team doesn't hold anymore timeouts.

I know the ref explained that it wasn't intentional but how can he know that? Do they really think that Favre wouldn't take a 1 yard penalty to get an extra play?

I think that is just the Favre refs. wherever Favre goes, a group of his refs follow...

but then that might just be my conspiracy theorism coming out.

But don't you think that was weird?

But if they let the clock run off, they couldnt CONTINUE to DELAY Brett Favre GOING THE **** HOME AND STAYING THERE.........FINALLY.....for christ sakes. STAY THE **** HOME BRETT.

sometimes it feels like the refs want to give our opponents one last chance. even if they didnt earn it.

like that BS fumble call on ricky williams against kansas city.
and i think there was another incident in another game that i cant recall.

if that BS fumble call didnt happen. we would have set the lowest turnover record, instead of tying it.

Ya I was saying the same thing and than he said the game isn't over I was trying to figure out what was going on.

I honestly don't know but at the time I saw it happen live I was thinking he saw a guy with open room to run and he could "lateral" it to him. The lateral just happened to be a forward lateral but still!

Oh well, 15 more seconds to make his last game even more miserable. Worked for me :D

Someone really should make a Youtube video of that final play with all the laterals, but only set it to Benny Hill music.

The game cant end with a DEFENSIVE penalty.

It was an offensive penalty. Forward lateral. I was there live and kept saying " the game is over, 10 second run off" but of course it never happened.

The ref messed up IMO, now if a team is in that position they can just throw an illegal forward pass and get another play. That was total crap.

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. the only explanation is that they picked up the flag and said it was not a forward lateral. I did not hear the ref say that though.

It was so loud I couldn't hear ****. All I know is they moved the ball back to the 1 or 2 which would IMO mean it was a forward lateral. They just wanted to give the Jests another chance. TOO BAD MFERS!!!!

They mentioned something about why time wasn't run off, but I was too hammered and screaming too loud to understand it. I found this-

"In the NFL, if any of the above fouls (except "Illegal Formation") occur with less than a minute remaining in the half and the clock running, then a 10-second penalty is also assessed. The 10-second penalty does not apply if the clock is stopped when the ball is set for play and will not start until the ball is snapped, if the team on offense with time-outs elects to use one in lieu of the runoff, or if the defense declines the runoff (which prevents a team from committing fouls to intentionally run out the clock). If such a runoff occurs with 10 seconds or less remaining, the half automatically ends. Since the enforcement of the 10-second runoff, only one NFL game ended automatically due to a false start with less than 10 seconds remaining (in 2005 between Arizona and St. Louis). A pre-season game in 2006 between Houston and Kansas City had the first half end automatically due to an intentional grounding foul with less than 10 seconds left."

I don't recall if the clock was running or not.

LOL.

I was jacked at that too. Then we still won, and I forgot all about it until now.

WTF was with that?
