i didn't see the game, i was watching the little helmets move on NFL.com. How come after we scored to start the second half we kicked an extra point to make it 14-13, instead of going for two to tie the game?

It was early. If we could stop the run and give our offense some more possessions, we should have been able to score some more points. Take the 1, play defense, and get back on the field.

I swear I had the same reaction. I know the proper procedure is to go for one with the game barely out of halftime but the trouble we were having moving the ball led me to think the same thing just because I wasnt sure when we would be revisiting that part of the field

You can't coach from that mentality. If you did, you'd just forfeit a game like last night's instead of playing it.

As you acknowledge, you don't consider going for 2 until about 5 minutes left in the game. That's why the team kicked the PAT.

Yeah i agree you dont at that stage. i was just commenting that the thought entered my mind too. i think there are times you can do that at the beginning of the 4th depending on the flow of the game but generally never in the third

At one point in the game we were down 27-13, so imagine if we had gone for two, and failed. It worked itself out at that point, we just never capitalized.

Yes, and then their kicker pulled two 50+ yarders out of his ARSE and we are out of the game. It seems like opposing kickers and punters have the games of their lives against the Dolphins. Two VERY questionnable calls by Vermeil (would have given us great field position twice in a very reachable game with plenty of time left) that turned out to be non-factors because the FGs were good. You would think we are playing in Denver..

I agree we should have gone for two. The psychological factor of tying the game would have been huge. KC might have started to sweat for a change.

Because you do not go for two until you have to.

texans/dolphins 02 anyone?
Very good point, it was 2003 though I believe. If we only kicked the extra point and not gone for the two, we wouldn't have lost that game and we would have made playoffs. And to think... this is just from Week 1, who says everyone game doesn't make a difference...
