or why do they think:

- the NFL is our minor league system, we don't need to develop our own players. It works for the Redskins:rolleyes2:

- we should give up on our young players and sign jerks looking to get paid who didn't do jack **** in their rookie year?

- 1-15 should be overcome in 2 offseasons

Probably because of what Moss has done in NE, what TO did in Philli and Dallas, and what Marshall himself did himself with a mediocre QB in Denver. A receiver that commands double teams makes life so much easier for everyone from the coaching staff to his counterparts on the offensive end.

Because many don't see the big picture. They only focus on what they think will improve one area of the team instead of the whole team.

We dont have a Brandon Marshall anywhere on the roster.
Sometimes you have to go and get a player.
Especially when you refuse to draft one high.
That being said I rather trade for Boldin than get Marsh

this team hasn't been a true contender for quite sometime, even before the 1-15 season. how many more drafts is it going to take for us to truly contend :rolleyes2:. i don't care how they do it, free agency, draft; who cares. as long as we win, i am happy.

I think when you talk about "the big picture", I think people should think about what will make us a better football team for years to come, rather then what would make us better right now.

Like reaching on players and over paying FA's just because it's a "need".

I blame Madden

Instant gratification is a strong temptation but without foundation leads to frustration.

We have a tight end who doesn't fumble, we win the ATL game.
We have a receiver that can catch, we win the Indy game.
We have a free safety who can cover, we win the NO game.
Henne stays in, we win the PIT game.
We add a linebacker and we potentially win a few more with the other positions filled.

Next year,
Rookie cornerbacks are a year more experienced plus we get Will Allen back
Henne a year more experienced
Ferguson back
Ronnie back
Cobbs back
12th overall pick along with whoever we draft that can contribute right away (like Long, Merling, Langford, Donald Thomas and Hartline has).

So I think we have potential to be pretty good. Elite? Probably not, but I think we could get to the AFC title game, maybe further.

Why not us?

Why do so many people think a WR is somehow the biggest hole on the team? We won games on our passing game and managed to stay in games that should have been blowouts thanks to it. We were as bad as the Lions in pass defense. We should be hastily trading for Ed Reed and Antrel Rolle before we even think of going after a big time WR. We were at least average at passing the ball. We were historically pathetic in the secondary.

It's been seven years since we went 4-12. Eight and nine years since we've blown playoff appearances with AWFUL coaching and TERRIBLE quarterback play. We've been a combination of horrible and mediocre ever since. Apparently it's a 10 year plan! ROME WASN'T BUILT IN A DAY!
I've been hearing the same bad excuses from the same apologetic fans ever since. All you people ever do is praise the coaching staffs and front offices, and forgive them their misgivings.
I'm sick and ****ing tired! I see the same type of stupid mistakes from this regime that I do from regimes of the past. Well run organizations like the Colts, Eagles, Patriots, Titans and Steelers bounce back quickly and win almost every year because they can coach and they have good management. THIS MANAGEMENT AND COACHING STILL SUCKS.
Stop belittling fans who want to win!

What's the common denominator here? Long term management and coaching staffs in place.

Also doesn't hurt to have Manning, Brady, McNabb and Roethlisberger.

Colts, Eagles, Patriots, Titans, Steelers all have one thing in common.

Stability.

Constant turnover and instability is not how you become one of those franchises. (i.e, us after Shula)

The unrealistic fans who just want our team to instantly be a superbowl contender with each new regime, you are the cancer of these boards.
