why do some finfans think our secondary is so bad? ok we lost surtain and replaced him with daniels thats a big downgrade but i think our safetys our better than what we had last year i would take bell,schulters and jones over knight, edwards and freeman. so what we got beat a few times in the preseason big deal. once we get our starters in place and they get settled in we will have a good secondary! GO FINS!

Maybe. They guys we had playing didnt look too good Monday though. What really scares me is that if our secondary IS sub par, then our QBs and receivers should be totally and completely dominating them in camp. There should hardly ever be an INT thrown and very few INC's. While reports say that the passing game has definately improved, it does still struggle at times. We can hope that part of the reason for the struggles is that the secondary is playing fairly decent. If however, the secondary does indeed s*ck, then we are in big trouble....on both sides of the ball.

Some of our Corners look like crap..(Edward's, Howard)...not many of the Saftey's are good in coverage...the Secondary RIGHT NOW sucks for the most part.

The secondary very well may improve, and a lot of the trouble we're seeing in preseason may be due to a partially implemented defensive scheme that calls for the front 7 to lighten the load on the DBs except that nobody (other than the Bears) runs many blitzes in the preseason.

Still, this team lost Patrick Surtain. Jones may supposedly be better than Knight, but he hasn't shown it so far. Schulters hasn't been used. Poole is hurt. Right now, this secondary is significantly worse than the secondary was last year. They'll improve, but I cannot imagine they're going to sniff what the team had last year.

This defense is going to be the problem half of the team this year. The good, young talent is mostly present on offense. Our best coaches other than Saban are working on the offense. I know many of you don't buy it, but that's the way I see things.

We also lost Knight. Losing both Surtain and Knight is a big hole to fill.

However thinking about the HOF game, it was a vanilla playbook. I can't stand the fact that people say how bad it was. The Bears gameplanned, and they admitted to it, the Dolphins did not. They just went out there and played.

I'd say the secondary will be decent, but we will have to get pressure up front, or they'll get torched by the teams with a great passing attack.

Because that is the way they showed last week, for one thing...Schulters is still learnign the schemes, Jones hasn't practiced much. Bell is showing fine, but Madison and Howard looked very weak last week. That could be because of the new schemes or it could be that they just got beat...besides that, no one else showed much either (Tillman, Richard, Bua or Hunt)...

I would agree, that on paper, we should be better in the safety position, but not even near as good in the CB position...So, the answer is that we looked bad in the secondary last week....that is why we are concerned...

That's like asking why do you think they're so good. Just because you personally would rather have that trio over the old trio doesn't necessarily make it fact. It's a matter of opinion........and honestly you don't have much to go on yet. You're pretty much just enamored with names. Fact is, in their first preseason game they looked like complete turd.

Honestly, Sammy Knight sucked in coverage, but he has more takeaways in the last 5 years or so than any other safety. We're not gonna replace our entire secondary, and one guy that we're gonna to miss more than anybody thinks is Arturo Freeman.

I think they can become better as a group. Right now it just seem like there communicating the best, and they need to help each other out better when they are suppose. There was plays on Monday night where you could Richard was waiting for help, and it was just late getting there.
