His stats are better, his competition was better, and what about his comeback against LSU? I would definitely take this guy over Matt Ryan...
63 percent completion percentage, 3800 yards passing, and 40 touchdowns while only throwing 11 ints..

Matt Ryan is the media's sweetheart.

Well they both suck.

But heres two reasons why Ryans a better prospect.

1. While working with Martz at the senior bowl practices, woodson looked like a lost puppy. Absolutly couldn't grasp the offense, messed up all the time and simply didn't look good. The senior bowl was a very bad week for Woodson.

2. Woodson has a bad release. It's a lot like Leftwichs, where it just doesn't seem to come out of his hands fast enough. In the college game, it didn't reall matter. In the pros, half a second on a release can mean the difference between a sack and a touchdown pass.

We have Beck to give another year so we need to fill in as many holes as we can with this years draft.

needs to be in the draft forum

Alot of new people are posting draft info on the main forum when there threads should be posted to the draft forum.

No big deal but once people get into the habit of posting
anywhere it could get messy.

You could count atleast 6-10 posts per day that belong
on the draft forum...come on guys it's not that difficult to post accordingly.:hi5:

I love Woodson, and I hope we can get our hands on him, but being a Kentucky fan, I can say that he makes some dumb mistakes sometimes. I do think he can get coached out of them though. I hope Woodson comes to play!

He will be a fifth rounder at best.

well my debate here is over matt ryan and andre woodson.. the difference between drafting mr. media matt ryan or Highly Touted prospect Andre Woodson.. you people talk about half his slow release but, what happened in the LSU game? that is an NFL type defense he played.. He actually enamoured scouts with that game... a game that is much more difficult than matt ryans win over Virginia Tech. Not everyone can digest a nfl type playbook in only a week. Sure he didnt look that great during the college football all star game, but at least he played. Matt Ryan has done nothing since the season ended. You can teach intangibles, you cant teach skill. Andre Woodson, with our third pick in the draft could actually be worth more than drafting matt ryan even if he lasted till the second round. They both have ideal size for their position. I just dont see the positives in drafting a quarterback that resembles kyle boller.

Ok, first off, it wasn't that impressive. It took 3 overtimes and there was a pretty questionable pass interference call that led to the game winning td for woodson and Co. That call doesn't bail woodson out and they lose that game in triple overtime.

secondly, didn't woodson only have like 2 INT going into that game? and then he ended the season with 11. That's 9 INTS in 7 games. He played some great games, but he played some head scratchers too. He threw 5 tds and no INts against FLORIDA but the next week he threw 2 TDs and 3 INTS against Mississippi State. That kind of inconsistency is scary for a scout.

Now let this be said. I DO NOT want Matt Ryan, But i don't want woodson either.

now you talk about his inconsistency.. what about matt ryans.. 13 touchdowns and 12 ints during his last 6 games. that is down right ugly..

This is one thing that really impressed me about Ainge. He seemed to take to Martz and his coaching real well. He seems to have a style that might translate well to the pros, despite his college career. He might be worth a late rd. pick if we don't go after a QB earlier. Who knows.

1.) I really don't care about Ryan or Woodson, but how is the LSU game much more difficult than the Va. Tech game ? They were both highly rated defenses if I remember correctly.

2.) You are correct, not everyone can digest a nfl type playbook in only a week. We want the ones that can.

3.) You can't teach intangibles,

Intangible \In*tan"gi*ble\, a. [Pref. in- not + tangible: cf. F.
intangible.]
Not tangible; incapable of being touched; not perceptible to
the touch; impalpable; imperceptible.

This post is in no way an endorsement of Matt Ryan.

I think its funny that people have to denounce that they want ryan at the same time that they are denouncing another qb prospect. too funny.
