If Saban is as reported doing everything he can do hire him, you have to wonder, maybe even worry a bit as to why Mularkey is hesitating.

coaches always hesitate first.

Probably to speak to his family. Would you make a decision to move your family without consulting your wife first? ;)

Let's see. The meeting lasted nearly all day long yesterday. The job was offered. It isn't even 24 hours since the meeting ended.

Where is the hesitation?

Mularkey is simply making a decision like most people should be making a decision. He's obviously discussing this job offer with his family, and he wanted to sleep on it for a night. The reports said a decision could be made by tonight.

Relax. The guy isn't hesitating.

And if you flip the question, why does Nick want the process to be quick? He likely wants his coaching staff complete for the Senior Bowl next weekend.

the question should be......why are we offering mike mularkey a job? his offense sucked in buffalo.

:shakeno: They did pretty well against us...

Cuz if he would've accepted without consulting his wife he would've been sleeping in the dog house. For those of us who are married we all know how wive's can be. But they are from Ft. Lauderdale so it's just a matter of time before they accept.

I wouldn't read anything into it. There are a lot of things to think about... it's his future for the next few years.

He's also, remember, going from king of the jungle to assistant king, defense. That is, I'd guess, a hard enough transistion by itself.

And while there are a ton of positives to being OC here... it's not like Saban is an easy-going back-slapper of a boss. It's a serious place with a workaholic leader. That might give someone who was just in charge pause. And it's pefectly legitimate.

Give him some time... better that he has weighed his options and decided this is exactly where he wants to be.
