Im tired of letting Directv control me. I was born and raised in Miami the biggest Dolpin fan ever, havent missed watching a phins game since 1984 and I had to move to Texas and the only way to watch my Dolphins is to use Directv. I move from apts and I always have to get a SW location and Im not able to, Ive been doing this for 10 years and for once I think all cable providers should be able to charge the price for the Sunday ticket to all the NFL games!

Why does Directv hold it hostage? The NFL should do something about this! If im upset at my phone provider I leave them and go to a competitor!

But I cant do that with Directv! Imn forced to use their services just to see my team play!

This isnt Fair!!!!

Because they paid Billions of dollars to those rights.

Maybe if you outbid them next time TV deals are up for bids, you can determine who gets to see what.

It's not fair, but it's just the way it's going to be for awhile.

well when things arent fair we speak and things change! and not Billions! come on

In 2011 DirecTV got an extension, for the Sunday Ticket rights through 2014, for 4 billion dollars. Before that they paid about 700 million per year. Look it up.

In this economy....crazy.

I was at Best Buy last week and the Directv salesperson was there. They are offering new customers the NFL package for free. When I got home I called Directv to gripe. I've been a Directv customer for 10 yrs and stopped purchasing NFL Sunday ticket 3 yrs ago once the price exceeded $300.00.
After discussing this with customer service, they lowered the price to $180.00 for me.

THEY PAY FOR IT!!!!!!!!!! lol, hostage. thats a good one

Instead of being mad at DirecTV how bout you take it out on your cheap Cable provider Companies for all the years before DirecTV came along (1994), that they had the same ability to obtain those rights for their Subs but decided not to do that for it would take too much away from the profits they were making off all their subscribers because "They", at that time were the only game in town. The cable companies themselves are the blame for the lack of a NFL package for their viewers because of their greed, inferior picture quality and lack of extensive programming just made DirecTV's market take over as easy as 1-2-3. Once customers got a look at all they've been missing out on it was quite easy to see that for all those years prior to 94' they have been taken advantage of by the cable monopoly's and even now, they still aren't willing to ante up despite all the cries from their subscribers. Your right though...it isn't fair, It isn't fair that cable is still raping it's customers and is continually behind the times playing catch-up.

Don't let it bother you too much though, it's just more smoke and mirror tactics from D* come next year all those brand new subs will be either dropping the ticket or wondering why they didn't take the time to read the very small print about being charged full amount for NFL ticket after year 1.

All you have to do is call and complain and threaten to cancel. They will always give you some sort of discount. I only payed $70 for mine this year.

Don't blame Direct TV. It's just business. I am sure others could outbid them but they choose not to. The NFL does do something about it. They put all that money in their pockets that Direct TV pays them for allowing Direct TV exclusive rights.

Get a Ps3 and pay for it.. Its not that much money. Or get Directv..Your in the same boat as most of us our.

Had DirectV for 10 years, when the price got too much for NFL Ticket I just found a bar that carries the games and went there each Sunday. Great times spent with other Dolphin fans watching the games....

You are confused. The NFL sold Directv the rights, they are the ones who want it to be this way. Directv has almost no power in the situation, the NFL makes the rules. The reason the NFL wants it this way is because they are scared of losing some of TV revenue if they allow a larger provider to sell this package.

Also, directv is now selling the NFL sunday ticket over the internet only, no monthly tv subscription required if you are unable to get directv due to geographic restrictions.

Yeah, I blame the NFL, for selling the Exclusive rights...could have been non-exclusive, but I'm sure the payday wouldn't have been as big for them.

Incidentally, where in Texas? Same boat here. Grew up in Florida now stuck out here in Texas with Cowboys and Texans games on all the time.

Two words ; fiber optics. All you have to do is call and say you're leaving for FiOS or U-verse. And the longer you've been with them, the more you can get out of them. Making my play today. Shooting for upstairs HDDVR ( just ordered the new HDTV so I need one anyway) 1/2 off Sunday Ticket and 1/2 off Center Ice. Don't let them play you with free movie channels. Stick to your guns and don't take things you know you're not going to use.
