My girlfriend noticed it and I basically told her to shut up, but in watching him, it's really pretty gross-maybe that's why one throw in 4 sails 10 yards off the mark or doesn't quite make it into Ronnie's hands-anyone have any opinions? And yes, great win today...for JT and the defense

i always licked my hands and I had a full ride to rutgers... and first team all state linebacker and wideout. A quick lick and your hands get a better grip on the ball. It's not like you slobber on it and its all wet. Relates nothing to skill. and why a ball sails. So anyone that says a quick lick is gona make the ball do crazy things.. needs to revaluate their reasoning for watching and learning this game.
 
Maybe he was a cat in his past life and he's cleaning himself.

CB goes for the ball and is like, "Crap, Im not gonna touch that thing with that guys slobber all over it."

Simple. It is done to get a better grip on the ball. Quarterbacks have to be careful about doing that only on pass plays though otherwise the defense could see that as a cue that a pass play is coming up.

Joey should reevaluate whether CC and Mc Mike really want to catch it with slobber all over it-must be getting used to it cause they were a bit better today-sorry about your hand licking glory days

good point-gross nonetheless-reminds me of my friends who gas me out with a nasty cigar when I start to beat them at poker
 
First of all, don't talk to your girlfriend like that and second, haven't you ever thrown a football? You lick your fingers so you can grip it better. And no, it has nothing to do with the ball sailing.

alright it's a lie-I would never dare tell her to shut up-especially since she's a finheaven member now-the rest I stand behind-you tell me why the ball sails-don't get me wrong-I like 65% of what Joey has done-but the other 35% is UGLY
 
The ball sails when he throws off his back foot and doesn't get the follow-through. It's a byproduct of battered QB syndrome which Harrington is showing signs of coming out of.

Most QB's lick there hands, Marino did it ALOT one of the ppl that did it the most i think was Elway, Montana, or Steve Young i forgot which one but i think it was Elway
