Hear me out here. Just a few things I'm curious of.
1. Standard hierarchical set up of owner picking GM who picks his coach, who picks his coordinators whom together pick their QB. Not Miami, we seem to have a proverbial merry go round almost every year where nobody knows what the **** is going on.
2. Drafting a QB with attacking weapons, usually a genuine #1 WR or big TE. We draft our QB and in his first season don't give him anything to work with. We then give him a speed threat with low catch radius and still no genuine TE alternative. Why are we not QB friendly in this regard ? I'm thinking of Indy not just drafting Luck but then safeguarding it even further by drafting his favourite receiver out of college to boot. Why has Tannehill just finished his 3rd year with us without having the two easiest throwing options in big WR or big TE ? Why haven't we made things more comfortable ?
3. The OL. On a similar theme to point 2. You invest in first round young QB, the first thing you do is safeguard his health. Not us. We've got the guy killed for 3 consecutive years and still don't seem to have a damn clue. Why do other teams find it easy protecting their guy with makeshift late round picks and yet we consistently have to look to sort out the OL ? How hard can this **** really be ?
4. Linebacker play. I look around the league and one consistency of strong defensive teams is linebacker play, yet here we are mucking around with outside guys on the inside, 3-4 guys in the 4-3, putting square pegs in round holes relentlessly. Why can't we fix this **** ?
Just a a few thoughts I've been having and am interested in your responses. I just don't understand why Miami has to always ignore conventional wisdom and do the alternative. It doesn't make sense.
