Why does Nolan get a pass ?????

are you serious man? come on.

firstly, the game against the pats was a joke. they basically moved the ball up and down the field at will, and scored at will. we couldnt stop them.

yesterday, the defense was better, but then again it would have been pretty hard to do worse this week. they still allowed to many big plays, and when we really desperately needed a stop, schaub and johnson hookup to seal the game.

look, we are 0-2, not just because of the defense but because our whole entire team in general has been playing like crap, and without consistency. it is the whole 53 man roster, and the coaches included. but the defense has not been helping us really in anyway.

im not talking about the New England game. i'm talking about the game against the texans. we had no prayer against new england no matter what any homer wanted to think. that game was a 0-1 start no matter what and im kind of annoyed that the jets start with dallas and friggen JACKSONVILLE while we get houston and New England idk why we always wind up with such an impossible schedule.

Anyway, my point is yes the team is sucking right now, and there is blame to go around. but i hear way too much about the defense after yesterday - the defense played ok yesterday. we arent going to stop houston EVERY SINGLE DRIVE. we made our stops and put the offense in perfect position plenty of times to do something.

again, take away houstons TD when they got the ball inside the 10 - i mean com'on. Then put either 3's or 7's on the board for our 2 missed FG attempts and D Thomas's horribly timed fumble, and you arent complaining about the defense anymore. This was just a came of a LOSER team playing, a team that played like it never had a chance to WIN, but it isnt like the D went out and cost us the game again. at all. the reality is this team CAN NOT EVER click on all cylanders EVER. last week O was good D sucked, this week special teams was HORRIBLE and offense chalked up 2 turnovers at horrible times and position. dont forget horrible kick coverage. This game was not on the Defense. period.

p.s. can we just admit that dan carpenter is not a very good kicker?

ya i hear ya. but the thing about the defense is, and your right, no defense, no matter how good they are, is going to stop the opposing team on every drive. The thing that is just disappointing though is that we just seem to never make the pivotal stops on defense, and with all the talk about how everyone was saying we were going to be an elite defense, top 5, it makes this a disappointment.

and for carpenter, i dont want to jump off the ledge yet, but yes, yesterday was horrendous. to botch not 1, but 2 field goals that were chip shots is flat out pathetic. yes i know 1 was blocked,but still.

we got many problems and we dont have to much time to much time to fix those problems with everyone 2-0 in our division

Nolan's 'system' got legitimately manhandled in the New England game... He loves matchups and rotations and Brady/Bellichick exposed it mightily with an up tempo attack... Hey it happens... We did it to them with the Wildcat once upon a time... Sometimes you get surprised, even an old dog. I'm sure he would be the first to man up and admit it... I'll be shocked if it happens again.

What I am a little surprised at is how Nolan is not doing a good job of disguising the blitz... He is known for an attacking defense with creative blitz packages and so far we have just not seen it... He made Brady's/Schaub's jobs much easier... He has been calling them at very obvious times with very obvious sets...

And I don't know how you can even contemplate Carroll on Johnson... even in a double team... Defense 101. I know he doesn't have the horses or the depth he covets (blame Ireland) but you are asking for trouble by walking into matchups like that... and trouble is exactly what we got.
