Why does our front office keep replying to false reports?

Ross is big on public perception. Pretty obvious that he's frustrated at the fact that he and our FO keep getting blasted by the media over and over again.

I wouldn't be surprised if he has a social media team who monitor Fan forums to get a pulse on what the fans are saying.

I agree completely. He is very obviously focused on what the media have to say. The problem is that he knows absolutely nothing about being the owner of a professional sports team.

The media always behave the same, they are a constant. Look at how Parcells, Bilichik, Coghlin and even the coach who he tried to hire last year deal with the media. There is a right way that elimates all this constant noise and static and then there is the way that Ross is doing it.

The owner should never set expectations by making statements, he should never 'leak' info to get his opinion across. It is embarassing when the media are writing stories about Ireland and Peterson wanting one head coach and Ross wanting another one. It looks like the problem is that Ross' ego is so big he just NEEDS to become the center of attention just like that clown from Arkansas who owns the Cowboys.

I am glad Ross responded to Florio the way he did, direct, to the point and bluntly. Lack of action like Ross's reply is what has gotten me to the point of being so critical of the front office. If they had responded to other false reports in a similar manor I don't think Miami would be in such a negative light right now. Yeah the Dolphins would be criticized for their lack of winning and rightly so but the amount of bull**** would be greatly reduced and all this horse**** reporting would diminish.

It doesn't matter what happens behind closed doors in the Dolphins organization, there are bound to be difference of opinions but what happens in the public eye should be a united front between Ross, Ireland and Philibn. Ross calling out Florio's bluff is a start and it needs to be done more often and in unity.

Owner's should stay above the fray especially when thier football knowlege is questionable.
Don't we have a public relations dude for that ?

There's a valid reason the Fins fan base is as dysfunctional as its become. It's understandable. However, whatever rationalization of the painful, probably justifiable journey was to get there, doesn't make the fan base any less dysfunctional. :idk:
The team is dysfunctional, the fanbase is just pissed(or worse, apathetic)

Yes, in terms of dysfunction, the team well may be the horse that pulls the fan base's cart. However that doesn't make the predictable raw meat Pavlovian "damned if you do/damned if you don't" droolfest - no matter the occasion or course of action any less dysfunctional :idk:

When you have a fair weather fan base who hold a Occupy Davie moment. What do you expect this FO to do? Eventually they will feel pressured in one way or another. Whether its drafting Tannehill or playing the PR game in the media. This is what happens when a faux fan base takes over and gets loud.

"Damned if you do, damned if you dont fan" mindsets are fan reactions to consistent losing, fair or not. Belichick picks up Haynesworth and Chad 85, and is viewed as the ultimate genius. Then those 2 flop badly and nobody cares becasue the team is in the midst of a 5th SB run. Our guys will get the benefit of the doubt when they've earned it.

Fairweather fans, by definition, only care about their teams when they're winning. Anyone that took time out of their lives to show up at that thing, while idiotic, are also pretty hardcore.

I believe it is a sincere effort by the FO an owner to communicate with the fans/media more. I'm not saying its true, but they are trying to communicate more lately. Maybe the Manning/Flynn backlash got the Miami brass to realize they can't act like the gestapo anymore. If Ross and Ireland dont talk to the media, the media will just make things up for them.

I dont believe a word that is coming out of davie right now. If ross is supporting ireland and not demanding tannenhill i dont think they would feel the need to reply to false reports. The more they respond to these false reports the more i think its becoming reality that ross is making demands. to get tannehill.Every rumor that is out there the front office instantly replies to it, we all know they cannot tell us the truth so whats the point of even replying? im all for tannehill so hopefully it is true but our front office is really looking dysfunctional lately. Stop responding and proving the stories true!!!!!! Now, some team is going to pick up tannehill before us because they know we want him badly which will make us have to give us more picks for him. How are these reports leaking!!!!!!!!!

I thought before you were all about Richardson, and Tannehill would be a huge reach?

What happened eh?

I'm by no means refuting what you're saying and Haynesworth is a fine example of your point. However, my contention was, and continues to be that no matter the jagged road that brought our fanbase to the precipice where whatever course of action gets condemned, nevertheless, the fact remains that it has become clinically bi polar.

Fair enough.

Why pay attention to anything that goes on before the draft? Reports out there are made up all the time. It's how the game is played.

To a degree you are correct. But many of those same fans get up and leave in the 3rd qtr or in some cases don't show up until the 3rd qtr of games. And you don't have to be hardcore to participate in a 'protest'. You just have to have no responsibilites and looking to get your 15mns of fame.

But like Vaark has said and this board is proof of it. You have your kind who think this team and franchise suck and are lost in the woods. And then you have someone like me who thinks things will get better and this team doesn't suck. Your posts the past year have been nothing short of team bashing. This board is a tiny sample of what the MIA fanbase is, 2 extremes, with people who believe as you do, being the loudest.
