This isn't a meant to be a Tannehill bash thread, but Im baffled by why he doesn't he run the ball? He literally never scrambles anymore and they don't run read option anymore. Last year that was one of the best plays we had.

Looking at QB rush stats - RT has gained 44yds though 9 games, which is at the bottom of the league. He is being outrushed by Eli Manning!

He is also leading the league by a wide margin in yards lost due to sacks, even though he isn't the most sacked.

They run the read option all the time, it's just that he doesn't keep the ball and run. You'd think they'd eventually have him take off b/c otherwise what's the point?

I think its been coached out of him. And the read option isn't being used because you don't want your QB getting hurt. I know you don't like Tannehill but Moore is worse

They ran it all the time last year and it worked. So why protect him this year?

I don't think he is actually reading it because it looks open a lot of the time when he carries out the fake.

We paid him to be a franchise QB. You look at the top QBs, Rodgers, Brady, Peyton, brees. They don't run read option. You protect your investment

This is baffling. It might be a product of falling behind in games and him trying too hard to make a play throwing the ball. I agree he should look to scramble more. They should also roll him out more. That might lead to running opportunities too. Kind of bizarre that the beat writers haven't asked that question.

Even Dalton doesn't run read option. That's my take. Franchise QBs don't run. I don't think Wilson and Newton will have long lasting success in the nfl

RT ran it all the time last year, so they just decided now that he is too valuable? I don't really buy that.

Not sure that r/o was ever in Daltons play book. Last year RT had 2x the rushing yards as Dalton and this year Dalton is out rushing him.

Last year RT avg about 20 yds a game. This year it is less than 5.

Perhaps he isn't specifically reading the defense any longer but they run the formation that makes you believe he is.

That's what I meant. It looks like just a designed handoff- no reading.

I noticed in games where he scrambled, he seemed to play better and more focused...and the team did as well.
I think he should run at times. Especially when everyone is covered and they are closing in on him.
Some of his losses from sacks are drive killers.

One HUGE reason among 10-12 that I hate us using the spread option formation 98% of the time is that our QB never runs.

On the other hand did you see some of the really good roll outs that the Eagles run from it?
