why don't we run more the ball with our two good running backs. ronnie had 9 carries and ricky 5. Gus threw the ball 43 times. running the ball gets the other team defense tire.

We need to figure ourselves out, before we'll be able to take it to anybody else. Welcome to the board!

when RBs are averaging under 2 it doesnt drally work running that much

I think people need to realize that R & R do their job better than Gus could do his, well I feel Ronnie anyway could do a great job at RB. Remember in 2003 when we were 10-6 playing the Pats in OT. We had Feidler but Ricky was such a threat defenses focused on him too much, we need that for Gus.

Welcome to the forum. Good post.
I was saying the same thing yesterday. I think every game so far we have abandoned the run too early. Yes, they were only averaging 2 yards a carry, but I think they needed more touches to get going. Ricky has historically gotten better with more carries as games go on. Ronnie has also shown to be the same way. Im worried about each getting less than 10 handoffs in a game and never really getting momentum. We need to play on our strength and run the ball instead of having frerotte always go downfield when he cant hit open recievers.
In our losses this year we have gotten behind and I know thats the reason why we have thrown. But in those games (especially this week and vs the Jets) i think we abandoned the run way too early. Yes we were down by a td at times, but thats not an unsurmountable deficit. You have to stick to your strength, which I believe is the run.

The only questions is whether maybe saban feels our o-line is weak at run blocking. Im not sure...

who is your offensive coordinator again???

yeah... thats why.

If we have to throw the ball all the time, put Ronnie out in the slot. He couldnt possibly do worse than the receivers are currently and that might motivate them a bit.

He has demonstrated that he can catch the ball. I bet he is not afraid to catch a slant.

Because they always had 8 men at least in the box?

It's a shame our WR's couldn't catch the ball that hit them in their hands all day yesterday rather than dropping the passes.
