Why even Meet with Flynn?

It is curious but typical of our FO. We've been saying all along that if anyone is qualified to buy that pig in a poke, it was Philbin, the guy who knew him best. I'd hope that Ireland didn't step on Philbin's feet. Instead it's possible that Alex Smith and his agent got some inside information that Peyton will be announcing the 49ers as his new team on Monday or Tuesday, so as a result the agent put in a quick call to Ireland to offer up Smith, if they're interested which excited Philbin more than did Flynn for his WCO. I'm hoping that was the scenario cause the Smith interview happened very fast, but with these guys you never know nor automatically should they be given the benefit of the doubt anymore. I'm also not discounting the possibility that Sherman liked Tannehill (or even Weeden) a lot more than Philbin did Flynn. But who the **** knows? :idk:

thats what i thought. talk about making no sense.

must be RG3, so where were all the "sell the farm" people when the trade could have been made? It wouldnt have mattered, they would say Ireland sucks cus he sold the farm.

exactly...Ireland, Ross and NOW Philbin are in no win situations with this fan base....I honestly do feel kind of bad for them

NO I'm not okay with rebuilding, i'm still upset we canned Sparano, because I saw this coming a mile away. We have a talented roster, unfortunately new coach needs new guys.

Plus why are you all so sure Flynn would've been the answer, he played 2 games in one of the most efficent explosive offenses in the NFL, against 2 weak defenses, the Pats, and the Lions. He was not a great passer in College, and he lacks arm strength. We should draft a QB, and ride with moore, instead of waste money on yet another free agent QB (AJ Feely ring a bell?

Sparano was a small part ofthe problem I never called for his head so you can just delete your previous post.

We have a depleted roster with holes up and down it including an offense is disarray. Incomplete oline, no receivers, no qb and no tight end. This is a complete joke and they cant get anyone to come here.

Ireland is the cause of all this including Sparano being gone. We will fail as long as he is here. He is now going to hide under the umbrella of "rebuilding" with this new coach and be here another 2-3 years. Congrats on supporting them as they pull the wool over your eyes AGAIN.

Heh. They brought him in because they believed he would start for us and was better than Matt Moore. They knew beforehand, Flynn was looking to be a starter and was gonna get starter money. If they didn't believe he would start for us over Moore, they would of never brought him in. So either one of two things probably happened. We didn't offer a very reasonable contract for a starter like Seattle or he simply didn't want to play for this franchise.

Either one makes us look very very bad.

that article that was posted said pretty much he would be COMPETING with Moore for the starting job..and even from what Im reading...Seattle isnt just going to HAND him the starting job....

If Philbin isnt sold on him? Curious to see the answers defending this joke of a franchise as to how they werent sold on him yet met with him and brought him in to discuss a contract.

Just because Philbin may or may not think Flynn is a franchise QB, that doesn't mean he doesn't have value.
