This is not bashing on ginn. chad pennington is not the right fit man for ginn,s style. of play. receivers that had great years with him is coles and keyshawn. both are physical receivers. i watched ginn,s tapes and he is very successful on deep posts, streaks, fake pump and go type routes. chad pennington is not our man for ginn. so i see 61 rec. for 789.yards 5td,s. but next year when ginn gets his style. of QB. witch is chad henne. i see ginn at 89 rec. for 1273yards 12td,s. so whats your thoughts.. chad pennington just dont have the arm strength for teddy ginn.

we'll see man, we'll see.

i really hope im wrong but ginn isn't capable of catching a 20 yard pass breaking that one tackle and make the safety miss kind of guy. you get him over past the safety while burning the coner. TD teddy ginn. chad pennington cant make this type of throw .

I think Ginn's numbers will improve, like they did last year. I do agree with you that Penny doesn't have the arm to take advantage of Ginn's speed. For Penny's leadership and accuracy, you give up some of the deep threat ability. I can see somebody posting statistically, how the Dolphins were ranked such and such in plays longer than such and such. Please don't waiste space with this nonsense.

I agree Ginn won't have a breakout season, but for different reasons...

The style of offense we run doesn't focus on one receiver so I don't see him (or any other receiver) having a career season because of that fact. People forget we're a run-based, clock management team so there's another strike against him having a huge season. We simply don't run a shootout style offense where we throw the ball more than we run, like NE or Arizona. Now, with our line improving we're going to look to run more and pass less. People looking for Ginn to have a breakout season are going to be disappointed. I'm fine with that, I don't think he's a bust and I don't think he has to have a carrer season to prove it. The style offense we run won't allow it. As long as he catches the balls that are thrown his way, and spreads the field for other receivers, which he has done, I'll be happy. Who cares if he has a breakout season as long as we are winning games...

Plus you need to consider Pennington has a real problem putting together back to back good seasons. He's usually injured at some point following a very good season. Plus I think knowing we have a QB that isn't a threat to chuck it deep our coaching staff adjusts by not making on single player at the skill position the focal point week in and week out. By doing so it gives the Dolphins an added edge at creating mis matches therefore making us hard to game plan and Chad even tougher to intercept..

Interesting post and i agree we wont see the best of Ginn until Henne is at QB , however Penny will make Ginn a better route runner which will benefit both Ginn and Henne in the long term .

we wont see ginns real skill until Henne gets in there

I totally disagree. I believe that his arm strenght has greatly improved...If you look at the pass he threw against the Texans to Patrick Cobbs you'll see that he can throw deep. (That pass was actually 80 yds to Patrick Cobbs.)
Maybe he will not throw a 99 yd TD, but I'm sure he could do some damage with Ginn...

PENNINGTON'S 2008 STATS
RAT 97.4
YDS 3653

You may want to look at that stat again, Penn threw that ball from the Dolphin's 40 to the Texan's 20. That my friend is not eighty yards. More like 40 yards that turned into 60 because of the YAC.

Nobody is going to have 1000 yard season and 12 plus touchdown with this type of team. Parcell's type of team is the old school where they pound you (running the ball) and by the fourth quarter the other team has lost the will to win. Even if we had Randy Moss I couldn't see a huge year plus Pennington has always has distributed the ball to all receivers and not lock into one. That's another argument why Terrel Owens wouldn't want to be on this team too.

Well said. Ginn can be fairly effective as a WR without catching deep bombs, even if he won't maximize his potential with Pennington at QB. At the end of the day, winning games is what matters most.

Now, what are the odds Penny stays healthy for another full season? We may see Henne (or even Beck if Henne gets nicked up too) before the season is over -probably will in fact.

I want to know where to acquire my crystal ball? We have no idea what will happen next year. Maybe Henne beats Pennington out for the starting job. The what ifs are endless. Let's just focus on what we can do to improve our team now and worry about the what ifs when they materialize.

GinnJr obviously will blossom with the deep pass:
1) Pennington can go deep but needs time to set before he loads up on a deep pass. The Orca-5 (KillerWhales) should buy him a few extra seconds to set up the deep route. Pennington's arm is not the strongest in the NFL but it isn't as weak as is claimed by his many detractors. He needs time to set for the deep pass. Am looking forward with reasonable expectation to seeing the entire ReceivingCorp step up a notch or two in 2009
2) GinnJr cannot develop as a go-to guy & be a one trick pony. He has to play the total game to enter the elite WR circle.
3) I think GinnJr. made his bones in 08 & will come out in 09 to play up to expectation

the team is slowly coming of age as we turn into the 2009 season. patience! we will contend in 2010.

I'd rather have 3 or 4 guys with 50 catches then needing one guy to get 90 catches.....if we get Hakeen Nicks, we could have four guys with 40-50 catches.
