It was rumored that 5-7 Million would price us out for Eric Winston. Yet we spend 2 Million for a backup in Hicks? Another 1.9 for a backup in Murtha? 1.125 for a backup in Cook? Do the math on that and we would be in the market for Winston if we weren't so dumb! C'Mon Man!

We could have Long, Incognito, Pouncy, Jerry and Winston. That would be a very good OL IMO. We could fill in the rest with rookies or undrafted free agents. Heck even vet minimum contracts.

Why is it that we always try to find these acorns but they alway turn out to be turds? On a positive note, atleast we haven't signed an ex-Cowboy yet!
 
Winston played both RG and RT, so there is a chance he may end up starting at one of them.

We also are not officially out of the Winston race, although it does look doubtful.
 
Market for Winston? Those 3 contracts only get you 5 million and they aren't guaranteed. Winston wants 10 million. You still need depth on the line, have you not watched the Dolphins the past 3 or 4 years? Our line has been banged up. Smiley and Donald Thomas down in 2008. We were rotating 3 centers in 2009 it was so bad. 2010 Grove/Long/Carey, hell McQuistan was starting and in 2011 same deal.

I understand the frustrations, we haven't even signed our QB yet . . . lets get that taken care of and then we will worry about a RT. It is easier than what Sparano made it look like last year when his Cowboy infatuation got the best of him.
 
theres a rumor winston wants 5-7?, 2 million dollars is a lot to be like ehhhh im cool with getting 5 but i really want 7.
wait.. thats Hicks's whole contract.

Also Winston Wants to be the HIGHEST paid RT in the League. sounds closer to 12 mil a year.
 
Those are very ave. salaries ... that's why we're getting very ave. players. Just seems like alot compared to the real world.
 
A top 5 RT would be a guy like Tyson Clabo who gets 6 Million a year. That puts Winston in the 5-7 Million range.

Hicks is terrible and he is 33 years old. He couldn't play a couple years ago (they tried RT then RG) in Minnesota but now you want him starting? LOL!

Nate Garner and Ray Feinga are ok backups. Incognito can backup the Center Spot so you have a couple of decent backups. Also who is the guy that we got from GB last year?
 
Hicks should be a minimum salary signing but hey we give him 2 million lol
 
The money should have been spent on a situational pass rusher or a depth/ST's LB. If Misi is going to play MLB we have no good backup for Dansby and Burnett on the outside.

What really ticks me off is that this year's OG class is extremely deep. The Dolphins should be able to find quality depth for the OL in the 5-7 range.

This signing is horrific and I think Ireland should be tarred and feathered and run out of town on a rail. The guy really is an imbecile.
 
Jared Gaither - A VERY GOOD and DOMINANT at times RT or LT got paid 4 years 16.5 Million. I would have rather spent 4.5 for him than 2 Million for Hicks! And Gaither is Young!
