Why give Hicks $2 Million??

It was rumored that 5-7 Million would price us out for Eric Winston. Yet we spend 2 Million for a backup in Hicks? Another 1.9 for a backup in Murtha? 1.125 for a backup in Cook? Do the math on that and we would be in the market for Winston if we weren't so dumb! C'Mon Man!

We could have Long, Incognito, Pouncy, Jerry and Winston. That would be a very good OL IMO. We could fill in the rest with rookies or undrafted free agents. Heck even vet minimum contracts.

Why is it that we always try to find these acorns but they alway turn out to be turds? On a positive note, atleast we haven't signed an ex-Cowboy yet!

You also forgot to mention Hicks can make upto another $500,000 via incentives.

I would have rather tried to re-sign Carey for 2 Million and he could play RG or RT!

Not sure Vernon would fit in very well at RG in the new system.

Vernon was never very mobile and almost never made it to the 2nd level.

Hicks has experience in this type of system from playing in Cleveland.

Lot of guys have experience in this scheme and many are younger and better than Hicks

That may be so, but I will deffer judgement on Hicks until I see him play.

Philbin has the best idea of who will properly fit his new scheme. For all we know he pushed Jeff for this signing.

we like spending money on trash lineman. Its routine

Everyone likes to justify bad signings by saying "it's just depth." This sounds eerily similar to people justifying Colombo last year. Keep in mind, there's a very good chance Hicks starts at RT.

You do realize when they say 2 million, it's possible it's only 800,000 or something. Mario Williams deal was 100 mil and only 50 is guaranteed

Hicks was ****ing terrible in cleveland! We should never signed him let alone pay him millions.

Artis Hicks is serviceable, but he's no pro bowler. So far we've got Rich Marshall, Artis Hicks, and Jamaal Westermann. WOW, quite an off-season so far lol

He is not even serviceable! The Browns tried to beg Pashos to llay through a ruptured spline rather then play Hicks.

Its a one year deal for a guy that gives us quality depth at multiple positions. I dont see the big deal. Its not like we signed Colombo to start at RT or something.

The guy is a flaming dumpster! I don't know who you are or what you did with the real WV! But Hicks sucks doesnt even qualify as camp fodder and should have been left in the fa pool, but hey with the current line up he just might replace Columbo.

Hicks does not have a guaranteed contract... We could also release him after training camp based on his performance/suckness...
