Why give Hicks $2 Million??

Hicks should be a minimum salary signing but hey we give him 2 million lol

Agreed. This guy probably wouldnt even be on a team if Miami didnt sign him. We could have got the minimum, or signed someone who has more starting experience. Lots of OL guys with more starting experience out there right now.

The money isn't guaranteed and he isn't guaranteed making the team ... no big deal!!! he knows the system, which is why he was probably signed ...

Let me quote this so its in another post and it sinks in to more people. He was probably signed to the amount they gave him in order to get him on-board now, but he is still a possibility to be cut as the contract doesn't seem to be guaranteed.

And our competition to sign him was who lol. Cleveland paid him less to play for them last year

Because that's what we do. Why give Jason Brown $6 million a year when we could give Jake Grove $5 million a year and cut him the next season, then draft a center at 15 overall when we still need a QB?

Cleveland also signed him after final cuts while we are getting him in before camps and the draft trying to implement a new offense. If he plays well enough to win the RG job, the 2 million will be worth it . . . if he doesn't win the job, he'll be cut and potentially brought back once the contracts aren't guaranteed.

Just more Dolphins stupidity. Another example is not cutting or at the very least restructuring Bell. Marshall's best position is probably FS, remains to be seen if the Fins are smart enough to play him there but that would free up Clemons/Jones to play SS, positions that they are better suited to play. I guess it just makes too much sense to cut Bell, save 5+ million and actually upgrade our pass defense in the process with Clemons or Jones. Instead we keep Bell, and waste money on scrubs lke Mastrud, Hicks, etc that couldve all but paid for a legit starter. Dolphins are utterly clueless though. They'll pay 2 million for back-up scrubs who rarely see the field but wont pay 6 million for a good starter. They'd prefer to have 5 ****ty guys over 2 good guys. Just the way the Ireland is.

I believe Ireland calls most of his signings Special Teams players.

God only knows we need 53 Special Teams guys!
