Since 1998 we are 3-12 vs the New York Jets.

Are they in are head?
Do they know how to play us?
Do they just have are number?

Those frickin' NYJ have ALWAYS been a pest, even when they absolutely sucked. They may have a 3-13 year, but one of those wins will be against Miami.

I'd say a big part of it is a coaching issue. Obviously we still lost this year, but we still have some kinks to work out too.

They've been a playoff contender for the last ten years pretty much. I guess it's always a tough affair but 3-12 surprises me. Lets hope Coach Saban turns it all around.

its a weird karma thing, check back into the 80's and it was almost as bad, Marino even lost some wild games. Have hated the Jets more than anyone and will hate the jets more than anyone ever since the O'brien vs Marino shutout we lost

The thing that really frustrates me about those losses is because several of them are games the Dolphins pretty much gave away.

But on the flip side, between 1994 and 1997 the Dolphins won 7 times and only lost once to the Jets, and that loss was by a single point.

For the same reasons that in the late 70's and early 80's we won 10 in a row against them and 17 in a row against the Jills....They have been the better team in most of these meetings...The Jests, Jills and Patsies have generally been better than us for the last several years (well, the Jills might be a different story), but the reality is that because we play them twice ( and often 3 times) a year, we are familiar and that makes for closer games...

I will never forget that awfull let down on Monday night. The game when the Dolphins had a HUGE lead and blew it in the 4th quarter. I will always and forever hate those darn J-E-T-S!! But one good thing came out of our rivalary.... That comercial when the Dolphin fan jumps up celebrating in a Jets fan filled room.

My point is that when it was under JJ, and Dave and this past Jets game, we did not do a good job on rushing the ball...

2 of those 3 wins against the Jets, we rushed for over 100 yds...

and to add we have had 8, 100 yds game againt our Division rivals during this same time frame and we are 5-3 in them...

I guess as long as we control the tempo of the game, by running effeciently, we keep our opponents offense of the field and or make them one dimensional (that being a passing team). I guess we all know that, it's just my view...

They have pretty much owned us for the last few years but Marino pretty much owned the Jets before that.

Since 1966 we have played the Jets 79 times with a record of 38 wins for the Dolphins,
40 wins for the Jets and one tie.

Its has been a close series and it has been cyclical. Now the cycle will favor the Dolphins again.

We use to own the Jets....but things have kind of evened out....wonder if Vinny will be their QB when they come to Miami. :)

Keep in mind a lot of teams in the same division gear their team up to take on a certain rival. We are the biggest rival of the Jets and the Bills.

That's why sometimes when you see a team like the Raiders get a WR like Moss you see a team go out and trade for a pro-bowl corner like Surtain.

Most teams won't really admit it, but they have to keep in mind what the teams in their division are doing so they will be prepared when they face them at least twice every season.

Just like the Panthers when their office put them together in their expansion year, they looked at the packers and the bucs and geared up to beat mainly those two teams.

The fins have always kinda been their own machine in the sence that they did their own thing almost regardless of the rest of the AFC East. The Jets have been more aggressive gearing up against fellow teams in the AFC east.

That is why I beleive every year they have a great record in their division, but lose a lot of games to non division apponants.

The Jets season is usually made if they beat Miami. Not so for the Dolphins. That has kind of changed recently as the Jets have become a contender, but most of the time it was Miami posting winning records and the Jets average at best. Another factor is the officials. It seems like everytime the Dolphins play the Jets a couple of costly calls go against us, the Chambers touchdown in the back of the endzone is one that comes to mind.
