Why has no one mentioned the DC position with the new HC hire

I have read on many sites that the Dolphins want to retain Bowles as our Defensive Cordinator and that our new HC is open to that... does anyonebesides me have an issue with this..why and why not? I think especially now with the formation of our new Offense that we get better and not worse of Defense.. what do you guys think?

I don't have an issue with it. It was rumored he took over playcalling at some point mid season, where we coincidentally improved. He's been here a few years now, and it would be great to have some continuity on the defensive side of the ball. We can keep our scheme, and the players will remain comfortable. I'd love to keep Bowles as DC.

I am OK with Bowles staying on as DC. He is a big part of the defense and there is a reason he has interviewed for five head coaching jobs the past few years. He is a bright mind and it was rumored that the reason the defense improved over the course of the season was that he took some of the play calling responsibilities from Nolan.

Now, my only fear about Bowles staying is how much power he has in the locker room. He was the head coach of the Dolphins for three games and most of the players from this year's team will be back next year. Will there be a split between the new guy and the guy they went to work for last season? Maybe it won't be a big deal, but that would be my only fear.

I suppose there could be a split in the locker room ... but the players do have respect for Bowles and obvious both Ireland and Ross felt Bowles was worth keeping on in the DC capacity!!! It speaks volumes about the respect and admiration the Dolphins have of Bowles, and promoting him to DC, will finally give him the ability to further his career IF successful ... I love Bowles quiet but stern demeanor as a coach .. i can see big success as a DC in Miami ...

i hope you guys are right.... now if he does what you guys think he does as DC and we can bring in a decent OC and we land Flynn let me tell you something we are going to look sharp.. we would be able to focus our pic and another great player and watch out we are back lol

Im not a huge fan of Bowles but he has earned a shot to be a Dc not like his undeserved shot to be a head coach. I hope he does well if he is that guy.
At this point its a downgrade from Nolan beacause Nolan is one of the best Dc's in the game. This pure crap that playcalling was stripped from Nolan is a fabricated manipulation of the small truth that Bowles was given more input
