OK...So me and a coworker....who is a bandwagon rider with any team(hes from Va so they dont have a team). Anyway he kept saying how Penny sux and he is no good. I explained to him that its not always stats that are important.....Look at Farve, holdS a crap load of stats and has only 1 SB win. Brad Johnson has one also...but his stats dont match Farves, so with Farve holding so many stats he should have had ....anyway. So I told him Penny is not the super star-throw it halfway down the field-scrambling qb that everyone wants. But he has one stat that I love that can cuase you to lose games.

I did a comparison to a couple of QB's of the past year or two ( I dont have enough time to do a comparison of all 14 since Marino left). Since Penny has only played four games I took the first four games of these QB's also.

Name Comp/Att % Yrds TD Int Sacks Fum/lost

Penn 75/112 67 817 3 1 7 0/0

Lemon 80/137 58 792 4 1 9 2/2

C-Pep 81/134 60 929 2 3 21 3/0

Green 5gms 85/141 60 987 5 7 7 2/2

No Pennington's int doesnt really matter the reciever missed it the game was already over anyways. Turnovers kill game chances...as we saw last year....5 or 6 games by 3pts. Give up the ball you have no chance to score. He has run the offense very well, he is a team leader a has become a threat to defenses. No he cant bomb it downfield every play but he is chopping down defenses 5-10 yrds or more at a time and controlling the clock. Now with a running game the play-action pass actually can fool defenses now. GOOD BALL CONTROL IS THE KEY TO VICTORY.

GO PENNY!
GO PORTER!
GO RONNIE & RICKY!
GO ROTH!
GOOOOO FINS!!!!!!

Pennington= Jay Fiedler. The more I see him, the more I think it. That is not meant as an insult as, I actaully liked Jay for what he was. The problem is; These guys are marginal starting QBs. At thier best, they can get it done. Dinged.....Not so much.
He's done a good job in the last two games, because the coaches are playing to his strengths....Which is what coaches are supposed to do.

Every game Pennington can buy us is a bonus before Henne gets in there.

I attritube Pennys recent success because of OLINE play.. these guys are banging in there

I got nothing to complain about when it comes to Chad Pennington.
The guys have completely rallied around him, and they now have a winning attitude.

This is all true please dont think that I am saying that the rest of the team isnt doin nothin.....They are and in big ways. But you still need someone at the helm that can execute the game plans. These wins we have had have not come from one person alone. This is one team you can say it is taking 53 men to give 100%.

please dont post.. aha people amaze me.

It's been a while since we've had a team leader at quarterback, and we finally have that. He's great at managing the game and not making devestating mistakes. If the defense and running backs keep playing as well as they have, Pennington is plenty good enough to lead this team to success.

I likewise respect Fiedler for what he was. And I know he went to Dartmouth and is a pretty smart guy, but I never got the sense from watching him play that he understood what was going on out there on the field as well as Pennington seems to. As the best QB we've had since Marino, I wonder if it's coincidence that Penny might also be the most adept mentally for the position.

I'm in no rush for the Henne era to begin. He's a promising rookie, and that's all we know. Penny's getting it done now.

But when you see Penny play the way he is....its a great example for Henne. Look at the example that Aaron Rodgers had....The Gunslinger....Now rodgers is slinging it everywhere like his mentor and losing games 2-3.

So if Henne follows his mentor....He will be able to manage a game, be accurate, manage the clock....and when necessary (he wont learn this from Penny) send it downfield with arm power.

I agree for the most part, Myles. Well made point regarding the aptitude for the position. I think that's a Pennington strong point over Fiedler. I'm in no hurry either, for Henne as long as things keep heading in a positive direction. I've seen a huge uptick in the last two weeks and, I'm very heartened. Actually, I'm more heartened by the coaching than anything else.

I do think that Henne is the future of this franchise and, Pennington is a means to an end.

Let's be honest.. No QB is effective behind a crappy Oline. So thats a given Same for Ronnie.. the line have to show up for him too.

Penny is a better passer than Fielder.

The game wasn't over when he threw it. It was over after the interception. Which kinda makes it worse in my book. Splitting hairs though a bit because I agree with your sentiment. Classiest QB we've had in years. No doubt.

I agree Pennington's playing well, but, again, I think it's the coaching putting him in a position to succeed, which is a positive thing. I did not mean to say I want Henne in there this season if things keep going generally positivly.

People think I mean it as a bad thing when I compare PEnnington to Fiedler, and, it's not.
