Long time no post, but I enjoy lurking. The coaching search is driving us all nuts!

After giving the Schefter report (no financial offers have been made) much thought, I now have a different theory than CK and others on what's really happening.

I believe Fisher has already chosen St. Louis. An announcement wouldn't/couldn't be made until damage control for the loser - Stephen Ross & the Dolphins - could be attempted. We are dealing with a very valuable commodity in an NFL team, and perception of the Dolphins and the leadership behind it - needs to be protected, especially after the Harbaugh situation. The damage control I am referring to is the reality that Ross offered another coach a blank check and was turned down. Don't believe for a second that the Dolphins management aren't well aware of fan opinion of the team, the owner, and GM. Their job, aside from putting a winning product on the field, is attendance, ratings, revenue, etc. They will do whatever they can to salvage fan opinion.

I have to agree with Florio - it's disingenuous to think Fisher didn't have his own financial offers from both sides. Not only did he have his offer, but likely those for his assistants as well.

If that's the case, Fisher has basically used the Dolphins for more leverage. His thanks to them is allowing this bs report leaked to Schefter about no financial offers have been made. Reason? To not have it appear that Stephen Ross offered two coaches two blank checks and was turned away in one calendar year. Ross and the Dolphins are well aware of the PR backlash that would come from this. Thus the phony report.

Also why we heard glowing reports of Fisher's impression of Ireland. It's because Fisher is turning down Miami, and attempting to soften the blow in the wake of that decision by request of the Dolphins. It's the least the mustached ******* could do. That's why these supposed leaks and sources often have a hidden agenda behind them.

Rams Brass are doing a great job of saying nothing! Leaks will start coming from Dolphins...soon!

The beat writer from St. Louis says that leaks would come from Miami. These are the leaks he was talking about. To me, this sounds like an excited reporter that knows more than he can tell. Yes, I am stating that he is sitting upon that knowledge, while the spin goes out for the "greater good." He's following his orders to not leak it.

And don't think that Ross wouldn't have fired Ireland if he could land Fisher. This talk of how much he likes Ireland and admires him is more spin. Again, protecting the image of the Dolphins management in the wake of being turned down. Even if Fisher had come to Miami, Ireland would have been gone in my opinion, replaced by Lake Dawson more than likely. Don't think an NFL coach like Fisher would trust Ireland after what he did to Tony. How much time in person has he spent with Ireland? An hour or two?

The same spin would have been done for the Rams if he chose the Dolphins. Rams "sources" would leak that Fisher is not concerned about a move to LA, believed it unlikely, loves Sam Bradford, and finding it tough to decide.

The spin has just begun. Let's not be lowest common denominator fans - it's a done deal, Fisher will go to the Rams. Later today we will hear Fisher FINALLY decided. But the writing is already on the wall. In my opinion, it's time to move on.

The local writers keep saying Ross is in this till it's over. IMO, if it isn't tomorrow with Fisher it isn't happening. We'll grab a guy off the 49ers, Saints, or Packers' staffs and roll with it. The excitement Ross seeks to help with tickets won't be from the coach but from a new player, either the draft or FA.

Why would one team and their new coach care about the image of another?

I'm saying Fisher already made his decision and we had to endure another day of false reports to soften the blow for the losing side. Ross has a lot at stake in this - credibility, ticket sales, overall ownership value. Fisher will increase the value of whatever franchise he coaches, just like Parcells did. We'll know soon enough.

I believe Ross asked Fisher to leak this report to soften the blow for the Dolphins. Remember the report that Ross won't be outbid? They need to address that - and the best (only?) way to do so by denying money was offered. Then they can say Fisher didn't turn us down about money, only that the fit wasn't right, etc. This "leak" was nothing more than a save face move for Ross. I also expect Fisher will speak glowingly of the "losing" team at his press conference.

We will know by the end of the day. I think he'll be in Miami and hope we get back to our once proud winning ways.

When has an excited reporter followed orders? A local guy would do just about anything to outscoop the national media Softli is the same guy that had Fisher meeting the entire team and front office personnel in St Louis last Sunday. He claimed he was in the parking lot as this was unfolding. He was way off on that so anything moving from him is pure speculation.

Schefter is a lot more in the loop then Softli.

Why would Softli (in St. Louis) say leaks would come from Miami? What if he substituted the word "spin" for leaks? The leaks/spin was that no money was offered (sure..............) and Fisher loves Ireland (sure...........). Both "leaks" allow Ross and Ireland to try and save face.

And he (Softli) exchanged the right to know in exchange for silence. He wouldn't have been told in the first place if he would have blabbed about it. I'm sure he knows this.

i can simplify this whole thing.

jeff ireland. nobody likes him, nobody wants to work with him, expecially UNDER him.

money is ALWAYS an issue. even though the rams are probably his choice, you use leaks that make you look like your on the verge with the competitor. simple economics. nothing wrong with getting a lil bit more........

so, simplified:

1. ireland.

2. a lil more cash from rams.

Tough choice...

St.Louis won't pay the same as Miami, St.Louis could very well move in 2014 and JF wants nothing to do with that but he gets full control.

Miami will give him top 5 coaching money, Miami's not going anywhere, JF likes but JI but may feel the need to have a little more control

I don't blame him for taking so long in his decision, this will be for the next five+ years of his life and he may never get this type of opportunity again. And I wouldn't doubt that he's looking at this as a one stop deal. He spent 17 years in Tennessee/Houston and probably looks at this next job as a long term deal.

I will simplify it for you. Many on this site do not like Jeff Ireland but he is respected around the league.....like it or not.

If Fisher does come to Miami is it because of Jeff or in spite of?

miami has a better roster and $$$$$$$$$$$$$ the rams suck suck suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
