Why Ireland MUST be retained

The OP stated in closing: 'I know what im talking about. I have a PhD which automatically means I'm smarter than just about everyone here. You cant deny that. Who would you trust with a teams assessment? An intellectual with a PhD or yourself? I think ive made my point'

In my reply I would simply like to respond by saying, I will trust the results on the field and the standings at season end ..I think I have made MY POINT..

I questioned it in a different way.
Making a PhD is a respected achievement, but would never erase the fact that football requires a different set of knowledge.

Correct. Having a PhD, I just don't see the need engage in childish bets with those who have no chance of winning. It would be akin to exploiting the poor. Those who lack this level of education simply can't process the future consequences of their positions in the same manner I can. Bluntly, I see things 3 steps ahead of what they can see. If I were to engage in such a bet, I would always come out the victor. Any trades I would agree to would always result in my clear benefit. That's merely an example of course, some bets don't involve such transactions.

Only by betting against other PhD graduates could I get the sense of challenge that an intellectual like myself deserves..

The thing that really gets me is the people who want Ireland gone. Who else is going to draft valuable acorns in the late rounds like Charles Clay and Jimmy Wilson?

It's obvious that as soon as your argument loses substance you immediately resort to name calling. I can understand that you are intimidated by someone who's your intellectual superior. Maybe we could find a more suitable activity that caters someone of your stature. Have you tried Candy Land. Unlike you, someone of my intellect worries about more substantive things as opposed to where apostrophes need to go and how to capitalize words. Those are trivial and insignificant matters to someone of my background. I'm glad you have a total of 11 employees. I think I met one last night when I asked him to supersize my fries.

We beat New England, remember? If we can do that then there isn't a team in the league we can't beat. I'm giving the rest of the league three wins but honestly I don't have to. We can beat everybody. It's a shame the coaches tanked this team the last two weeks because we were totally going to beat Cincy -- who we OWN -- in the playoffs and then we were going to go and get Denver, too. Remember... New England beat Denver. We beat New England. You guys ever hear of the Transitive Property? Oh that's right. I'm the only one, because I'm the only one who actually went to graduate school.

I'm laughing at all of you with the Matt Millen comparisons. Are the Lions really better off now than they were in 2008? Their best player is still Calvin Johnson... who Matt Millen drafted. You guys forget that. Shame on you.
 
All I know is every single person on this board loved what we did in the offseason, it was sheer delirium around here. We all knew that if Joe was worth his weight in salt there was no way he could **** up the offseason Ireland delivered on with anything less than a 15-1 type season.

Now all of a sudden every single fan thinks the offseaon was bad? Everybody is against Philbin now? You people change opinions so fast around here my head is spinning.

I just keep eating and eating and eating, I'm so depressed.....I hate you Ross, I'm going to be the size of Vince Wilfork in a few weeks. You have officially ruined my life. I can't even get excited about this offseason, which as a Dolphin fan has been the lone bright shining spot in the year. New hope, new beliefs, new coaches and players. But there is no hope, Obi-Wan Kenobi isn't walking through those doors because you've got a red-headed Darth Vader blocking entrance to the building. The only people who will come play here need to be overpaid, because nobody will give this team a price break because of its operations side. Ireland will pick a bunch of guys that will take 2 or 3 years to develop, Sherman will run his one go, go-go....high school progression read offense, and Philbin will have that look in his eyes, like..."I just don't know what to say or do".

I'm ruined, I already want to cancel Valentines Day, my birthday, the fourth of July, my vacation, everything. Just close the blinds, cancel cable and hibernate for a year with Punxsatawney Phil and hope that next year you have passed away and the team has been sold to someone that understands an NFL franchise can't be run the same as a regular Fortune 500 business.

Hes been doing this for almost 6 years and i defy you to name 5 gms who've had that long of a tenure and were bad at their job. You cant so the only logical conclusion you can draw is that Ireland is really good at his job. Its math guys.

The worst decision this franchise could make would be to get rid of its greatest asset. Does getting rid of your best employee make your business better or worse? Worse of course so it doesnt make sense to want to get rid of Jeff. Makes no sense at all.

Due to Jeff, this team is really really close to being in the superbowl. I guarantee you all that next year we will win 13 games if Jeff has another offseason to build on the last outstanding offseason he had. The proof is in the pudding. Ross is no dummy. You dont get 5 billion dollars by being a dummy and he likes Jeff so there you guys. Its the obvious and its the right choice to keep him.
