I haven't had much of an opportunity to see Levi Brown in action. Can anyone tell me why he is considered a reach at #9?

According to Mike Mayock there is a serious gap between him and the next LT in the draft suggesting he is an excellent prospect at such a valuable position. On the other hand, he didn't exactly excel at the combine, with some saying he was quite disappointing. This is very frustrating because I think LT is the major need for the fins and want to be able to look forward to us drafting this guy at #9 without thinking we have wasted a chance to move down a few spots and still get him.

So, is he worth No. 9 in your opinion?

I think so. I'd seen him ranked as high as the 6th overall prospect in the draft before the combine. I think people are putting WAY to much stock into his 40 time at the combine. I think the main reason alot of us are doubting him at 9 now though is the recent comments on Alabi starting the season at LT.

However I don't think he'll be the best player available.

Brown is worth it at #9, he looks like a solid LT prospect who didn't have a terrible combine day, just a terrible 40 time, and I always thought people paid more attention to stuff they can measure than what they see on video. Brown would be a nice addition to this team, and I trust Cameron and Mueller to make the right call.

I think they mean Brown is a reach in that there are certainly nine other players (and more) that are better than him overall. While he's the 2nd best T, he's not necesarily in the top 10 overall.

I think it's a bit of a reach here, but I won't be sad if it happens. We need an LT, in case anyone hasn't noticed

That said, if we can get more impact at #9, we should do it, and draft OL in the 2nd round and later. Some of the best OL-man have come from the later rounds!!

To me he is a reach at 9 top 10 picks on OT should almost be a lock. As a big ten fan I have watche him play a lot. He can struggle in pass blocking against speed ends. He also lacks that nastyness and agressiveness that I like in a Lineman. He is also know to take of plays at times and lacks motivation. Phisically he is good but needs some work in other areas.

Because he is not a 5 star prospect or "elite" prospect, he's a notch below, if you take him at #9 you will be bypassing higher rated players.

He may turn out to have a very good career though.

He might, but unless he is an elite player I'd rather spend a top 10 pick on a difference maker, on either side of the ball. With Houck's teaching ability you can probably find some offensive linemen that will be quality players in round 2 or 3.

I don't really put any stock into the combine.
Certainly you can't put any stock into the combine if you are a brady quinn fan, the guy skipped it.

So levi brown didn't run a great 40, I am so shocked.

Bottom line is you are guaranteed nothing in the draft.
Robert Gallery comes to mind. Never really panned out in the league, some even call him a bust.

Watch film fellas. The guys a good tackle, or at least was good in college, thats really all we can go by.
It's up to the coaches to help him along in the league. I think we have one of the finest if not the finest Line coach around. He would be a good pick for us, and fill a major need at that.

I think you could make an argument that whoever we select they may or may not be considered a reach by one or more person.

the way i see it is there will be a better pick available at #9 and that alone makes him a reach IMO...

i havent heatd that, what exactley was that about?

Alabi is intriguing. At the end of last year, he appeared a lot bigger then when we drafted him. Anyone know his height and weight?

If we wait one more year to draft a LT, there will be plenty more to chose from in next year's draft.

I think he fills the biggest gap for the dolphins so in that ase it doesnt make him a reach. If the high ups feel that way though they can always trade down and maybe get another draft pick to help the rebuilding effort and still get brown down the road.
