Why is everybody exited about signing Holliday?

What this signing does is tell the fans what Saban is looking for.

IMO,
Saban is looking flexibility, a guy who can play two positions DE/DT, I'll gues Saban will sign a RB/HB next.
Saban also it appears is not willing to break the bank on overpriced free agents regardless talent level.
Just my thoughts.

Talking sense?

How bout making some sense....the guy sucks. PERIOD.

one things for sure, he is first round talent and never played opposite a quality player like JT before, for this alone i like the signing

I know I am being a little harsh.....but I am just a little pesimistic about Carter not signing yet and us going out and picking up Eric Kumerow Jr.

he will thrive on the other side of JT and I feel that he is a better player then David Bowens and will make our line a bit better. last year he was basicly injured the whole year so don't hold that against him

My only contribution to this thread is that Holliday is nowhere near the definition of a bust. He's a good run stopper who in the past has managed to get between 5 and 8 sacks a year, when healthy and used properly. He's been miscast as an outside passrusher when he is nothing of the sort. He will do well in the hybrid 3-4/4-3 defense. And, he is not that expensive. It's not like we got him as a franchise player or something. Sheesh.

Excactly. And Clayton apparantly reported that we paid him a 600K signing bonus. That makes him t an extremely low-risk/high rewad player.

If that's the case you're right on. Hey, I'm not one to say that every move Saban makes is golden but at the same time I'm taking a wait and see approach. If Saban felt that Holliday was the final piece I would be livid right now but I think Holliday will be part of the D. At best he's starting DE at worst, he's a role player or gets cut and we don't lose much. I think when you look at our Salary Cap situation, this is probably the only type of moves we can make at this time.

Spare us all the drama....He doesn't suck and Will never be cut in training camp...LOL :roflmao:
You are not the only one with direct TV and football is a team sport!!! He is no star but can be a solid player especially on 3rd down DT pass rusher. You sound very ignorant when you make overdramatic laughable comments like that.

Dude...get real. The guy sucks. PERIOD.

He had ZERO sacks last season and his best season in his career was 8.5.

David Bowens is twice the player Holliday is.

Like I said......cut before the 3d pre-season game.
:roflmao: :roflmao:

what are you a comedian?

Zero sacks in an injured season!!! Like the othes said you are just too smart...Thanks for your great insight...no dolphin glasses here...it's wanna be football experts like you that real football people laugh at. you would fit right in in NY, maybe a knicks fan. Maybe we should fire Saban right now and get in a real talent evaluator like yourself!!! LOL :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:

No....I just know when a defensive end can only manage ZERO sacks in a season...that he is not all that good.

People...take off the aqua colored glasses.

He is not better than any of those you mentioned.

I think he was brought in to boost the confidence of Vernon Carey in training Camp.....after Vernon goes up against Vonnie for a few days......Carey is going to think he is the best RT in the NFL.

If he sucks so much why in the Hell would Carey thuink that...?? I think Nick and Rick knows what they are doing..
