I see posts calling him selfish, greedy, or worse..

Why? Because he is holding out for the best contract he can get? Right now the Dolphins are offering him LESS than what last year's 2nd pick got if I am not mistaken.. He has every right to want market value..

This is the NFL system, highly picked rookies get ABSURD money, and they generally get more money than those in the same slot the year before.. This is the NFL process, and Ronnie is just playing the game.. If you have gripes about the amount of money rookies get paid, thats a gripe with the NFL, not Brown..

He isnt being selfish of greedy, he is waiting for what he feels the NFL states he is worth. IMO, the ones bashing Ronnie over this are the ones being selfish, because it effects your team..

Just look at as Miami hasn't had a top 5 pick in how long? So must people are not aware of the holding out, contract talks, etc... that come along with a top pick.

Exactly...

"Dont hate da playa... hate da game..."

Nasty

probably because he hasn't even taken a snap in the NFL and wants all this guaranteed money. Well where's OUR guarantee that he's gonna be any good?

There needs to be a little give and take. He's just taking.

But EVERY rookie picked that high does that.. Its the NFL Draft and Contract process! When in Rome, you do as the Romans..

Would you forego guaranteed money if you knew you could blow your knee out in your first practice and never play again? ESEPCIALLY if its a common practice and EXPECTED? The man would have to be Jesus to forego all that guaranteed money for the sake of... who? The team? The fans? Cmon.. be realistic.

If the Dolphins didn't want to pay an unproven Rookie lots of guaranteed money they should have traded the pick, thats the bottem line... if they didn't get fair value for the #2 that sucks but you can't have it both ways....

You can't take a player with the #2 pick and expect to pay him mid to late 1st money... you knew exactly what he would cost... a little more than the #2 last year.

How can you blame Ronnie Brown for trying to sign a contract that pays him the going rate.... this one is on the Fins organization. If you want this kid to be the face of the fins, the playmaker, the focus of your offense, you gotta get him signed.

You better hope so too, considering your signature! :rofl3:

I could still be OK, he can only play 12 games.... I really don't expect to be paid... if I am its a bonus... I have very little faith in internet message board $$$ bets.

No Ronnie is being offered more then Gallery who was the #2 last year.

The problem has become since the 49ers completely overpaid for Smith that Ronnie, nowbelieves he should be getting atleast 2 million more then would have been the appropriate raise from last years #2.

19.5 million guaranteed with 10 million in escalators.

You wonder why some of us call him greedy when he is holding out for 2.5 million more in guarantees.

By the way that's a better contract then any other current RB in te NFL would have save maybe Portis.

So for a rookie to come in who may be a bust, hasn't proven anything to demand that type of money that will cause us cap strife in the future heck yeah people have a right to be upset.

I think he is very talented and will be a tremendous assett to this team 8 years down the road. But i have grown tired of his yes, greediness.

In the end though, I didn't blame him at first. However, as time goes on am getting annoyed and upset. He should try to get all he can, but he is misisng valuable playing time and with a coach like Saban just because he is the #2 overall doesn't mean he can just come in when he wants to and start right away.

the only reason for some bashing i realized is that the player can say ok i'll settle and it only effects him... a team settles and it effects the entire organization potentially for years because of the salary cap...

but the thing to me is... 3 million extra guaranteed, who cares, i dont plan on cutting him anytime soon, i expect him to be a dolphin for his entire contract so hes gonna get all the money anyway... give him the extra guaranteed and get his *** in here...

its not a better contract then all these RBs, its just a larger chunk of that contract guaranteed... the contract as a whole wont be the largest, he'll prob be top 7 i nthe whole contract, its just about how much of that contract is guaranteed if we cut him or trade him...

Maybe he is greedy, but who the NFl isn't... would you rather have him hold out now... or a few years down the road if he blows up...?

I thought Ronnie was supposed to be a stand up guy too, as long as he's paid i guess?

I am upset with him since I live in the Tampa area where his teamate told his agent to "just get it done. Iwill be in camp day one with my teamates. I don't care who makes more or less than me I just want to play football and prove my worth" When you hear this every day and see him continue to impress in training camp; How can't you be upset with Ronnie? Just cause the system sucks doesn't mean you can't buck the system. That is PLENTY of money.

I see your point, but asking the question, "would you forego..." If you are talking about 19 mil or 20 mil guaranteed, then I think none of us have that kind of perspective to even comment. HOWEVER, I do TOTALLY agree with negotiating to get the most money you can. Heck, when any of us were interviewed/hired for your job or even when going for a promotion ... I know I asked for more money. Even if I did end up not getting as much as I asked. EVERYONE trys to maximize their income.

All that being said, I think the longer he holds out the more it will hurt his season this year.

I don't blame brown for trying to get "market value" and I understand the team stance on "a couple of million" in guarenteed money since 3 million is basically what were paying for Ricky, Boston and Traylor this year, what baffles me is why teams and agents sit on their fat ***** for a month and don't start negotiating till a week before camp its plain stupid :shakeno:
