The guy has one good season and he deserves all this attention? Even more so why are all the Dolphin fans so high on Pace when Lance Briggs has not signed with anyone as of yet. I can't see Briggs costing much more then Pace and he has definitely proven he is a big time LB, not just a lucky season. Briggs could play MLB with Crowder for the 3-4 Miami wants to run. Porter and Torbor on the outside, with JT, Fergie/Sparks and Chris Long on the line. Secondary is still pretty damn scary though.

Lance Briggs is a product of the system in Chicago. Calvin Pace is highly regarded because he had a very good season. He had only one good year because he was misused his other years in Arizona. He was at defensive end I believe. He is very talented and is still young. Lance Briggs and Pace will likely get the same amount of money.

Because he is perfect OLB for the 3-4, he is young, and he had a career year last year. Also, Bill Parcells thinks he is OK too I guess.

I don't know. I have questions about both of them.

You dont accidently make tackles, you can either do it or you can't so obviously that isnt it with Briggs. The question is whether or not he can be THE MAN and not just A MAN.

With Pace I do question whether he will be able to keep up the level of play he showed last year.

Ok so Pace would be a good catch for us..but would Lance Briggs not be? I never would of thought Pace would be a target before Briggs.

Lance Briggs has said publicly that he would NOT play in a 3-4 defense. Geez, how many times have we gone over this?

I think it's impossible for a young player to have what we define as a career year, instead I would view it as a breakout year instead.

Now if Pace was 30 years old or a 7-8 year veteran in the league I would more agree with you and Colonnelli on why he is getting all this attention.

Like someone suggested earlier in this thread, this is probably more of a case of Pace being misused and now the Card's have figured out how to play him it's us instead of them reaping the benefits.

Weve just lost our best LB, Crowder is average, Porter is not getting any younger and hasnt over impressed anybody (not saying hes bad) and we need 4 starting LBs. Pace was part of a very decent LB Corp at the Cards. He will fit in great with the LB's we currently have who are expected to start come next season.

pressure on the QB, the more guys that can bring it the more games we can stay in

I agree with you colonnelli, I don't understand why so many fans want us to overpay for an underachiver who is, by the way, also asking for about 20 million in guaranteed money. just because last year he had 98 tackles and 6.5 sacks, doesn't mean he deserves that kind of money. where is he gonna play anyway? we already have porter and taylor playing the olb positions in the 3-4 and chris long is about to come. it won't be wise to spend money in a position that´s already been filled. we need help in the secondary, enough already with the front seven!! how about approaching guys like eugene wilson(in for a vist today), randall gay and offensive playmakers like alge crumpler and dj hackett??
mr parcells don't overpay for mediocre players!

Just so you all know, Pace was a mid first-round selection, so he clearly has talent. He's also very young and is a prototypical 3-4 linebacker.

Meanwhile guys like Briggs and Chris Long don't fit into a 3-4 scheme, so it's unlikely that either will end up in Miami.

Briggs definitely won't and I would say that at this point, Chris long is a "long" shot (pardon the pun).
