He hasn't done much at all in preseason. He didn't have a single highlight and only mustered 7 catches for 43 yards and 1 first. Divide that by three and you get a measly 14.3 yards a game.

We're not used to seeing players actually catch the balls that are thrown to them. I wouldn't say I'm infatuated, but I'm impressed with his performance so far as an undrafted FA.

people were impressed with his performance before mini camps even started =/

First of all I am not infatuated with Bess at all, so therefore your assumption that "everyone" is infatuated is wrong. Be careful with using absolute words because people have various opinions on matters. Therefore I think a more appropriate question is "Why are some people infatuated with Bess?" To answer that question, I think that some people see talent in the player. In college he was very productive and some people believe that his talent will translate to a good player in the NFL. Some players and coaches have given positive reviews for Bess. Some people here feel that is a reason alone to be excited. Of course there are some Miami Dolphin fans who thinks that our players are absolutely amazing players no matter how good they were before joining our team.

Okay not everyone but the majority on here are definitely infatuated with him. I have heard people proclaim he's better than Wes Welker.

Everyone seems to be looking for the next Wes Welker. Every year, the board goes crazy for an undrafted wide receiver. Everyone thought David Sutton was going to be a playmaker for us, and then Kerry Reed beat him out, and he is gone now too. Marcus Vick was the same.

Undrafted rookies are usually passed over for a reason. Welker is the exception, not the rule.

ah this has been going on for years it was kerry reed and david sutton a year or 2 ago brian manning a decade ago and many losers in between that we all have forgotten.. this year it was davone bess and jayson foster, the latter is about 2 go down in flames and the 1st won't be far behind..

bess has done everything right.. he has no reason to be cut... he has caught the ball everytime it is thrown his way.. he knows how to play, he proved that in college and now he showing it on the field.. david sutton did nothing in college

Yeah, can't speak for that. It's hard for me to be impressed by numbers accrued in a spread offense.

neither are all the teams in the nfl that passed up drafting him (including us) but there are players who have that raw hidden potential that might actually be a star but is shadowed over the "spread offense". i think it was a good flyer pick up. also does not hurt that he looks cool haha.

by the way anyone been paying attention to colt brennan, kid is looking sharp.

While I don't hold too much value into what a spread offense's Qb may have done, catching the ball is still catching the ball. Bess caught a lot of balls at Hawaii. The biggest difference is the more precise route running in the pros. That can be learned and I think Bess will be fine.
