Merge:Why Is Everyone Underrating Daunte?

As we all know, in the 2004 he had a great season scoring more than 35 Touch-Downs with some few interceptions (He would have been the MVP if it wasn't for Peyton Manning)..., one season later, he had a season-ending injury that led him to rest for almost a year, when he wanted to comeback, he wasn't neither a 100% recovered, nor he had the sporting condition that he had on 2004 (he was cold), Its evident tha Saban made a bad choice...

Moreover, he only played for a few games after being out of practice for almost a year and with a knee in the process of recovering, so I don't understand why is everyone so low on Culpepper.

I bet that if Marino would have a season-ending injury and then he would play for a few games after being out of practice for almost a year and a knee in the recovering process, he would have done the same job as Daunte did...

GO PHINS!!!

Another "Why is everyone down on a QB who hasn't done anything for our team thread?"

Mods should start banning again.

Joey Porter hasn't made something for our team yet, so lets be against him until he make something for us..., what do you think?

Daunte suited up.. and stank... when he does something.. and not in just one game as so many posters like to bandwaggon during the season... I'll be happy.... but the fact the team is still looking for veteran help at the position doesnt make me feel very good about Dauntes progress.

Hmm Stats from 2004? This is 2007.. this is the what have you done for me lately league. The other co MVP for 2004 is the reigning SuperBowl MVP.

He has hardly played in two years, has a bad knee that we still know nothing about the status of the injury to this day and he is bad at reading coverage.

Do you really want him standing on our sideline again this year. I don't.

Time to flick this booger off on someone else!

Exactly. I've said this all along.

What in the bloody hell has Culpepper done for the Miami Dolphins that has created all the loyalty among Dolphin fans.

All I hear is well back in 2004 blah, blah, blah............

It's a joke!

I just think people are impatient and want results yesterday. Problem is sometimes that's not possible. The one thing we know for sure is Daunte, "while healthy" is one of the best QB's in the league. 3 probowls and one near MVP season tells you that. It then comes down to each person. I think those that believe he can return and will return, understand the situation. Those that don't, simply choose not too because it's not in their best interest.

He turns the ball over too much when he is healthy and when he is unhealthy.

As bad as he stunk he was better than Harrington and Lemon. Experts said the injury would take him 18 months to heal completely and now it has been over 18 months. I am a Daunte supporter and believe that he will return to form. I think he is a top 5 QB in the league and with a full off-season to prepare you will see the results. Cam Cameron pretty much said the guy has been busting his @$$. Lets give him a chance but wait we are the Miami Dolphin fans... We are always negative and can't even sell out a home playoff game....

And if you try to bash me I live in Baltimore and have season tickets to the Dolphins and didn't miss a home game in the last 2 years.

That's like saying you support the Republican party, so it's ok for someone on the same team to get frisky with underraged intern boys.

What did he do to the Miami Dolphins? Did he lose the season for them? No. That coach chose him, made him the opening day starter when he wasn't 100%. This is Daunte's fault? Give him a chance. Who would you rather have that is available right now?
Green? Old and concussed. Huard will be starting over him...the same guy we wanted out of Miami years ago...every QB since Marino has been run out of this town because he does not have instant success.

How many QB's have we been through since Marino? I mean starters... a lot. too many
give DC a chance. let Lemon and the rookie in the third do their thing with a consistent offensive system.

I think that is one of our largest problems, OC changing EVERY year... how does this work... we have to take a step back every year. Defense will do fine with Capers returning...

IMO

 Underrate him?

The real question is "Why do so many people overrate him?" Anyone who has watched him play the last two years "objectively" understands he is not the same QB as in 2004.

maybe some the fans are loyal to the team...they want Daunte to flourish..they are smart enough to recognize that what we saw last year wasn't a fair shot... maybe WE don't want to see the pick WASTED until we actually find out if it is.... maybe we don't want TWO more picks thrown at the QB position for another broken player until we see if we need it....

a starting qb behind a GOOD o-line will take five or six shots a year that could end Greens intelligence..errr career... he's a bigger chance than Daunte was because he will FOR SURE take that "shot" that ends his career.

if someone was giving up on YOU this unfairly like you are Daunte you'd be screaming bloody murder.
