Why is it important to build through draft!

When you have the number of needs we do and at the same time tout a win now mentality, as the FO has been doing, you use every possible way of obtaining players that will help your team. Last year, Ireland made one of his two smart moves in his time here (IMO), he brought in Bush. The other was also a FA move in bringing in Wake. FA can be utilized properly. Instead, we're heading into the draft with more needs than we had at the end of last year. That's rebuilding mode.

Both were at bargain prices.

I think Bush lower his $10 million dollar salary and spread it over two years in order to make the trade happen.

Wake is getting paid peanuts. No one really wanted to play for cheap this year.

Point is that drafting the right people is more important than picking up FA. Teams that have to get their players via FA do worse

If we have a legitimate QB and we are winning, they could care less if Ireland is in charge.

And yet we've heard otherwise from multiple players. You can disregard it as sour grapes or whatever all you want, but where there's smoke, there's fire.

I feel it has to do with both. They're not just here to play football for the love of the game. It's a business first and foremost. Regardless, I don't feel he can get the players on the field, nor get us a franchise QB, so it doesn't matter either way.

When you lack wins and have a horrific front office, players who could help win games avoid your team like the plague. And hilariously, Jeff Ireland is the guy that has prevented us from getting a quarterback. So, putting it all together: not winning, lack of quarterback, bad front office. Man, sounds like a place people would love to come to.

Building through the draft is a given. We just definitely need to get at least 3 starters in this years draft. Ireland is due to give us 1 good draft. I'm hoping this is the year that he actually takes a risk that actually pays off.

For many ... building through the draft seems like a revelation from their comments ... what's up with that?? ... draftees are cheap & affordable is the bottom line.

HOWEVER, that's the BEEF ... to build through the draft ... you have to Draft well. Our drafts have been low-avg. & our record shows it very clearly ... NO ifs, ands, or buts!! PERIOD!!

IMHO ... Ireland better draft well this year or he's in trouble. (& not just from the fans)

Even if you could name 10 guys who wouldn't play in Miami (you'd be lucky to name 4), that's less than 1% of the NFLPA.

I think the thoughts of a couple of sour players has overblown by the media.

Like I said, we start winning and get a quality QB in Miami, quality players won't care who the GM is.

Before the team completely fell to shambles, Karlos Dansby blew off other teams to sign with us. He even rejected Arizona when they offered him an identical contract. Jason Taylor ran back to us twice to play for pennies when he could have made more playing for New York and Washington(something like 8 million in Wash). Then, of course, Chad Pennington resigned with us just to be a backup to Henne.

When you are a successful franchise, players want to play for you. Even will restructure deals or turn down much higher paying offers to do so. When you are a dysfunctional franchise, you have to vastly overpay for players to even resign with you....and free agents are basically out of the question.

I would like to hear Ryan Clark's side of the story, he seems to hold a big grudge against Ireland, but hasn't said why.

Still, that didn't keep us from landing Dansby or Burnett in Free Agency and Brandon Marshall didn't say anything bad about Miami when he could have.

I think Miami is a great NFL Franchise with a lot of great history and I know a lot of players would love to live in Miami.

Winning on the field has just as much to do with the Head Coach as it does the GM. It's a partnership. Ireland is NOT a good GM (yet).

There are very few good GMs in this league and the best GMs have been with their respective teams for a very long time.

Ireland has been average in both the draft and free agency. He makes 2 bad moves for every good move. He has proven to be average at best since he's been here.

We are dysfunctional. Players avoid this team.

At one point in time they didnt. Now that Jeff Ireland is officially running it, they do. We do not win on the field. We do not win in free agency. And past history shows we do not win in the draft.

People can keep making excuses for our front office, people can keep saying "we should build in the draft!!!", people can keep pointing out how good we were decades ago. But bottom line: we are not a good team to play for at this moment. And potential free agents know that.
