How many times did we look GREAT in early september games with the wanny regime, and then missed the play offs because of a melt down in december? What about last year? how relevant did that win over Denver seem when we were 3-7?

My point is: Its just 1 game! and its the first game! out of all the games that will reflect our OVERALL play this entire season, this is the least likely to be the one. Yet, just like last year, and the year before, we have all the people who want EVERYONE cut, EVERYONE benched..and who are already talking about next year. The Dolphins will improve, get some big wins, and nudge into the play offs...and by that point, this steelers game will be history and people will be praising Saban, Culpepper, and the rest of the team..just like it happened last year. So instead of going through the same thing we go through every year, why dont we take the time to learn some new lessons?

1. Culpepper is going to be a great quarterback for us: If you have a problem with his performance last night, please take into consideration that the offensive line had a HORRIBLE game. There was pressure on him all night and he did what he could, including showing us he's still mobile as well as showing his ability to get rid of the ball quickly. Not to mention we know the guy can make all the throws.

2. Ronnie Brown is a GREAT back: No, Ricky williams wouldnt have gotten a single more yard behind that o line...neither would anyone else that you think could replace Ronnie. Ronnie runs hard EVERY TIME, he fights for extra yards and usually wins, he blocks, he catches the ball as well as any back ive seen...so please, this is 2 years and going, stop the Ronnie bashing.

3. Our offensive line continues to be a puzzle: A puzzle they will need to figure out as Mckinney sits out (him being a strong reason as to why they hae improved so much). Dont forget we have a great o line coach and that by the end of his year, like last year, they will be gellin.

4. Wes Welker is a scrappy little guy: So much for Kelly Campbell and all the talk of Hagan (who will be good). Welker cme out and slapped us in th eface with a great performance. The guys is fast, agile, and has GREAT field vision. HE will be clutch on those returns all year. Welker put us in the game last night when we were showing nothing on offense.

5. Our front seven is nasty: Great pressure, great run defense. That secondary really screwed them though.

6. Zach Thomas is terribly underrated and we are lucky to have him: enough said.

7. Our secondary really isnt good, and wont be all year: A bunch of new, unproven players learning a new, complex system= break downs like the ones you enjoyed last night.

8. Saban is NOT god: the guy will make a mistake, no point in dishin out the criticism on him for not challenging that play when all thefocus should be on how pitiful that 85 yard play was forour defense.

9. Maybe not the super bowl, but play off bound for sure: Our secondary will keep us from getting to championship level, but we will hae what it takes to make the play offs and even win a game or two.

10. Be patient!

Good post, and Saban did challenge the play, the refs just chose not to pay attention to it. A coach has to wait until he sees the replay before he potentially blows a timeout.

I was laughing last night thinking about how some people, even some of the local beat writers, thought Welker might get cut. He'll be a dolphin for a long time.

Pittsburgh entire D was playing lights out. I don't think the playcalling was as bad as some make out, we were moving the ball fairly well despite the high level of play by Pitt's defense. Obviously though the 3rd and 2 play was a bad decision. Penalties by DBs killed us. The one one I think it was Goodman that put Pitt in the red zone was bogus though IMO. The ball was uncatchable and it looked like Ward (i think it was him) actually initiated the arm lock to draw the flag on a clearly uncatchable ball.
