Why is no one mentioning DE?

I am just curious as to how I keep seeing all this talk about who we will pick up for CB, C or WR and even some speculation as to RB, but nobody is talking about what we are going to do for some pass rush. Porter had a great season but he had way more sacks then the rest of the team combined. We absolutely have to get someone else to rush the QB or our DBs aren't gonna do us one bit of good. Good pass rushers make a great pass defense not good CB's. You can have Asomugha and Champ Bailey covering but Brady will still eat you alive if he has time. So who do you guys think we will pursue?

We've got Merling, Langford, and Holliday all at the DE position.

cause we have Kendall Langford and Phillip Merling from last year, with a lot of depth... as well as Matt Roth who could even add more depth there..... we're pretty solid there!!!

Yeah those three had a grand total of 6.5 sacks last season. Porter had 17.5. So yeah, who out of those three is gonna step up and get to the QB. Especially since there is plenty of speculation about Holliday getting cut.

they are young man... it takes time.... plus 3-4 your gonna get most your sack from the OLB too... hello!!!

There has been talk of trading for Shaun Rogers.

He wouldn't account for too many sacks himself but his push up the middle would make it easier for the Ends to get some sacks.

There also many threads onthe draft forum about drafting sack masters like Conor Barwin or Aaron Maybin or English etc. etc.

:thanks: Yeah what he said... the down 3 linemen in a 3-4 are not even supposed to rush the passer, nor are they even expected to make that many tackels. Their only job is to take up as many blockers as possible and jam the line back into the backfield. A 3-4 D is designed to spread the box of 7 out so the O-line has a harder time blocking it. It also provides a means for more athletic linebackers to make plays, and gives the D-cord way more stunt packages. Go and check every 3-4 team in the league and let me know when u find a DE that gets 8+ sacks a year...

Defensive end is quite possibly the post set position on the team.

Ok you guys obviously dont get the main idea of the post. Forget the DE part, the only thing that matters is pass rush. I dont really care who does it, but it has to happen. And dont give me that crap about Cameron Wake, he has bust written all over him. I am hopefull and think he could be good but anyone that has failed in the NFL before and only excelled in the CFL is risky to say the least. All that matters is w get more guys to the QB. Does everyone forget that we had ZERO sacks in our playoff game?? You will never win a playoff game with no sacks.

Then you should make a topic about the pass rush. But when you prove you don't understand how the scheme works, you're going to get answers you're not looking for.

If I didnt understand then I guess I wouldnt have watched every game since we switched to the 3-4. Which I have. But once again, neither here nor there. We need pass rushers.

How say you? He hasn't even played a down for us yet!
