I am not a Sage supporter... nor a Gus supporter.. but they are both equally poor.
Ive heard so many people asking for Sage and the only real argument is his play against 2nd and 3rd string guys, and 1 pass this year in regular season.. which also was against 2nd and 3rd stringers.

So LETS NOT MAKE THIS A GUS BASH!!!

But why do you think.. that Sage... is still riding the pine? There HAS to be a reason. Why did he ride the pine in Wannys system?

Im NOT defending gus... Lets keep this purely on Sage?

Why isnt he starting?

Because Saban is the coach and we are not. And Wanny was the coach and we weren't. They are the desicion makers. Let them make the desicions. Just have trust, even when you dont see the point to something, that with time things will work out.

Oh i totally agree... i just would like to hear from all those people who hate Gus so much that they want Sage to start... All over this message board its "Gus suck" this, and "Start Sage" that!..

If people want Sage so bad.. tell me why they think he is still on the bench if he is so good?

I dont know, but Sage is better than Gus, Aj, & Fiedler.

Because those fans panic. They dont know alot about football. All they know is that... "That guy sage was playing good in the preseason". PRESEASON! is the key word. Not understanding that preseason play means nothing to the regular season. But hey, this will happen every year with a different player. So I just expect to hear this stuff from certain fans.

saban probably doesnt want to deal with a qb controversy yet. but he will have to in about 3 weeks. gus will probably have a good game this week but will go back to his normal subpar perfomance the next 2 games.

I think it just boils down to the fact that Sage just doesn't impress in practice against our poor secondary, so how can a coach trust him against an even better secondary in a real game. It's pretty simple really - he just isn't as good as people wish he was. It would be nice to have a QB who could play lights out. But we don't have a QB on our roster who can play that way. Sage doesn't play because he isn't good enough to beat out mediocrity. That's a pretty significant reason not to have him in the game. People get all wound up over a pass that was against a defense that: 1) was leaning toward defending the run, 2) had some back-ups in the game 3) already had the game in the bag, 4) playing a QB who had nothing to lose, so why not throw it up there. That had potential to be one of four things: 1) A TD (which it was), 2) a long completion 3) Incomplete, 4) Intercepted. Sage got lucky on that one. Not saying it wasn't a good pass. But does one pass make a QB a starter? Not in my book. There has to be much more behind Sage riding the pine that what we have seen.

Lets see.... Wannstedt - Fiedler........ Feeley - Spielman....... Linehan - Frerotte ...... Maybe thats why........... What has Sage done that you say he is poor? I would like to see him in some extensive action to fairly judge him. Not that Gus is our only problem, but what is our future with Gus Frerotte?

All our QBS are poor.. I posed a question.. If you think he's better than Gus.. then why is he on the bench.

Dude, we started the man last year towards the end when we were giving our best to Jim Bates. He started the game off great by throwing his first pass to chambers for a TD. Pretty similar to this last one against KC. But the rest of the game he stunk. Again, one pass does not make a starter. I have heard reports saying he is sorry in practice against our worst. One flaw they say he has, is that he glues his eyes on one reciever. He is very easy to read from a defensive point of view.
His footwork is bad as well. They say he loses his steps sometimes. Coaches know more then we do so just drop it. SAGE IS NO STARTER. OR ELSE HE WOULD BE STARTING!

Not Trying To Smack It Up- But If Gus Had Anything He Wouldn't Be Such A Journeyman- Looks Like He Is There Just To Try And Keep You Guys Moving Forward In Your Rebuilding Year
