I know these are not the sexy guys most people want to pick up. And i know it get a little bit annoying that we have to wait a couple of days then hear we sign a special teams kinda guy OH NO (please tell me you see my sarcasm) . Look Ted Ginn is a return specialist and LoBo is pretty good as well and FIELD POSITION thats the key with these guys hopefully we can start the offense near or across midfield alot. Sure beats the heck out of starting at our 25. our O isnt pathetic most offenses cant go 75/80 yards EVERY drive but a short field means points most of the time. And dont be surprised if BP and JI spend some of our first 3/4 picks to bolster the O so they can go the short field. They have done a good job with our D line and i will admit our LB's need some work but there is alot of time before the draft and then most teams still have cuts left to make so there is still time to pick up another possible starter or two. and our secondary is OK is it spectacular NO but an addition in the draft and pressure from our front seven will make our secondary look awesome (ex; NYG in the superbowl). There is a plan our front office is executing that most us can not understand/comprehend so just let things play out and im sure that things will work out.

I am actually kind of excited with what has been done. The Special Teams unit was drastically overhauled, and some very good pieces were added. Special Teams is likely now our strongest unit by far. If you can get big returns on a consistent basis, that will make life for the offense so much easier. Same goes with your Defense if you can pin them back far instead of having every drive start at the 40 yard line.

The draft is where teams build their offenses and defenses. Free Agency is meant to add maybe one or two starters and mostly fill depth positions. The draft is where the magic happens.

It isn't, they just aren't the flashy signiings that people were hoping to see.

For real....Sp teams are an integral part of our new direction. Consistent tackling and great pursuit. Tackles near the 5, or the 10? These are things that change the momentum of a game. I'm proud of all these moves. And BP loves to beef the Sp teams unit

the problem is a few people on these boards dont want just a foundation layed they expect to have the foundation, the walls put up, the roof put on in a week

they expect to fix this team in one off season which is not happening, the bears rode hester all the way to the superbowl, he gave t hem great field position all the time or he took it to the house

special teams is the easiest part of the team to fix in the offseason, they are usually inexpensive players but they serve a huge purpose, it also adds depth to the team, tab perry is not a horrible WR he has talent

the draft is where we build the defense and offense, after you lay the foundation and you starting to build a contender, thats when you go after the names you think can put you over the top, thats why cam ****ed up last year by getting joey porter, i am not bashing porter because i like him but cam thought he was the missing piece and he wasnt

bill has won 2 super bowls been to 3 and turned around every franchise he has ever been part of o trust him more than anyone on a messageboard

People tend to have short memories. Parcells and Ireland have been doing exactly what the Patsies did to build their team: first, get rid of as much deadwood as possible. Second, sign a bunch of low-to-mid priced free agents for depth and special teams and possibly a player or two that might become a starter (not necessarily an elite player, but far from scraped off the bottom of the barrel). We're going to have to be patient and wait for the third part, which is to get the core of the starters from the draft.

EDIT: Here's something else people should remember before criticizing the new regime:
While many things have to collapse for a team to crash to 1-15, the 2007 Dolphins showed what happens when special teams play nose dives. The Dolphins were 30th in kickoff return defense, giving up touchdown returns to the Jets' Leon Washington and New England's Willie Andrews. The Washington return wound up being the difference in a 31-28 loss. Their 22nd-ranked punt return defense allowed a 40-yard return to Buffalo's Roscoe Parrish and a 49-yard return to Dallas' Patrick Crayton, both key plays in those losses.
Nobody considered it a coincidence that the Dolphins lost special teams regulars Wes Welker, Sammy Morris and David Bowens during the 2007 offseason.

Sure we could have signed 3 or 4 big name free agents but where would we be? The same place we were a few years ago with a large chunk of our salary cap tied up in a few players. That would have been a popular move but not necessarily the smart move because we need many players at various positions, not just a few.
Parcells and Ireland are signing fairly young players who play hard on special teams and may not have reached their potential.

It's a move toward substance, something we've been missing for years.

Its 1/3 of the game.

These moves are so much deeper then just special team accuisitions.

This team needed to be gutted from all the cancer that was the 2007 miami dolphins, a team that i am not fond of whatsoever, a team that turned its back against each other and its fans.

These are the players you go to war with, these are the players that will protect our future stars.

Our special teams is now set, with our draft we will hopefully find the talent, let the two mesh together find its own identity then sprinkle in a few big names next year and the year after.

By no means will any free agents come here and control whats going on in our locker room... no... they will be the icing, the players that are here now will be forming the cake.

These players will be our heart and soul, not just special teamers
