Im sure we all have our fans and haters for whoever the dolphins pick up. Its O.K. to express our opinions, provided we give the players a chance.

In the case of Joey Harrington, please remember where hes coming from.

Name one high profile player to win big in Detroit. Barry Sanders could not win there.

Look at Jake Plummer and compare his success in Arizona and when he went to Denver.

My point is that in a winning organization, a players true grit can come out.

He will have all the weapons he needs to succeed here, along with 2 coaches that can develop a QB (Garrett and Mularkey)

Unfortunately he is being signed for a 2 year deal at the most. The only way he stays here is if Pep goes down permenently.

After all is said and done, no team in the NFL has the QB roster strength that we do.

Comments welcome.

If Joey will go out there and win games for us I'll have no opposition to
us aquiring him, but I have faith in 60 touchdowns 62 interceptions unless
proving himself this coming season

I like Harrington, as a person. I saw a special they did one thanksgiving, I think his first or second year playing, where they went into his character and what he does and stuff, like plays piano in his free time and whatnot, and I found myself liking the kid. He has a good heart and I wished him the best to succeed.

But the one thing I noticed the most about him was that he seemed like the kind of kid who needed to feel comfortable with his surroundings. Someone that, when he found his groove, he could play like a star.

I dont think he was ever comfortable in detroit. Can ya blame him?

So bottom line is, JH could be a great backup in this league, and come in, manage a game and not make mistakes with the talent around him, and even has the potential to return to his hot #3 draft status. The worst case scenario? Culpepper goes down for a few games and we're stuck with a guy as good as Frerotte. We wont 9 games with him. (maybe 8 if ya count the one Sage came in and won. but thats still Harrington quality QB)

So Im open for Harrington to come in here, show his stuff. We always have Culpepper as our starter.

I'm not sure why, but I prefer the aquisition of Harrington over Culpepper. I only hope Harrington gets a shot, and does well. I've liked what I've seen of Harrington over what I've seen of Culpepper. Culpepper *was* very mobile and has a strong arm, but he also had Moss to catch the 70yard bombs. I think with the weapons in MIA, Harrington could do more with them than C-Pep. Just my .02.

he didn't get a chance in detroit?

surrounded by top 10 draft choices and huge wr's?

hmmmm......

No O-Line......and dont forget...............ITS DETROIT!

I've posted before that Harrington is a NFL backup QB and could come in and play well for you 3 or 4 games but not 16. Since he is going to do just that (thats basically what all backup QBs do) and as long as the Fins didn't give up too much to get him, I don't see how this couldn't be a good borderline great trade seeing as how we are going to have QB depth and a young former starter as our backup. Honestly, answer this question who could be better than Joey Harrington as our backup QB (be realistic)?

Recycling...

Let's look at the QB careers that were resurrected elsewhere. Brett Favre, Doug Williams, Jim Plunket, Johnny U, shall I go on? Steve Young? For a while there it seemed that if you wanted to go to or win a Superbowl, you should play for Tampa and get traded or cut from them.

Yeah three top ten draft BUST WR'S :shakeno:

Yeah three top ten draft BUST WR'S

the wr's are the busts? all of them huh?

no chance it's the qb, not the whole wr corp?

listen to yourself man?

it's EVERYONES fault and bad play, except joey.

and with all these bogus wr's, why were none traded and none
selected in the draft?

very jetfan like post bub.

I've read some ridiculous statements on this board, but for some reason I think this one takes the cake. First off, I wholeheartedly support the acquisition of Harrington because IMO he's the best backup available, but to suggest that Harrington could do more with our team that Culpepper is just plain asinine. Culpepper has had a tremendous career, and up to this point, Harrington has been nothing but a bust. I think Harrington has a lot to prove before he suddenly becomes better than Culpepper. Now I see that I really need to get VIP.

I watched Joey in college and he was excellent. I even went out of my way to watch him the last year or two in Detroit. He is not remotely as bad as some would like you to believe. His talents were misused in a west coast offense...he is best when throwing it downfield...

And some of those interceptions were definetly the recievers fault. I remember during the thanksgiving game the reciever fell down after the ball was in the air.....what is the QB supposed to do with that...lol

I think it's a little to early to label all of them busts. Charles Rogers definitely, but the jury is still out on Mike Williams, and if I remember correctly Roy Williams was making a name for himself before he got injured. You can't try to point the finger at them and not place any blame on Harrington's shoulders. In fact, Harrington is what we would consider a "bust" thus far.
