Last night's game was great in at least one respect...and that was coaching. I don't mean coaching in the sense of gameplanning, but coaching in the sense of a genuine concern for what is happening on the field. Saban was actively calling out players for mistakes and approached the game with real fire...something we never saw from Wanny. The thing that makes me feel good about this is that I have complete confidence that every snap of that game will be fully broken down and analyzed prior to being implemented into a very succinct lesson plan for the team. It is obvious that even the little details were important to Saban last night and that these details will be passed on to the practice field. I fully expect to see palpable improvement after ever game we play.

While Saban's success in this league is still to be seen, I am very upbeat about his potential.

I agree Volk.

I'd like to be in on the team meetings now to hear the breakdown of the game and Saban's reaction and analysis of the game film. It'll be interesting to see what adjustments will take place when they practice.

True dat! Also, we made adjustments, midgame, and it was only PRESEASON! Wanny went years w/o making any adjustments, but when the Bears were bringing the house early, after 2 series, we started having Gus do some short drops and quick passes to the WR's. Boston out in the flat has the potential to be a scary thing for opposing QB's!

Saban is a stickler for details. At LSU, he'd jump all over someone if they weren't giving 110% effort even with 1 minute left and LSU up by 50 points.

Good luck from an LSU Tiger fan. :)

We saw many good things last night. The coaching was solid, and many individuals stood out. Sabin looked intense, attentive throughout the game. L. Martin, Gilmore, S. Morris (he has to thank J. Martin for great blocking), Frerotte, and BERLIN, all stood out.

You want to know why last night's game was awesome? This is why right here. Because there was 1:50 left in the game. We had one chance at a game winning drive when down by three. We had three timeouts, and best of all, I thought we actually had a chance. For the first time in a long time I sat o nthe edge of my chair thinking we could win this game. It went down to the end and was a nailbitter, win or lose.

Thank God it was only the first preseason game.... because most of what I saw was really weak! Here's to hoping for steady improvement...

7 - 9 If That!!!!! No Line What So Ever!!!
Wow, that's a great talent you have to be able to know for certain we'll won no more than seven games, based on how the starting lines will do over the course of season after seeing them play for at the most, one quarter.
