In my opinion Miami must sign Pennington its clear that the best Qb in camp thus far is a 23 year old rookie and unless Parcells and co. break from their tradition and start a rookie Chad Henne wont be starting opening day against the Jets.

Now the two players miami hoped would bridge the gap to Henne have been playing so poorly that Quincy Carter was a consideration and now an after thought, clearly what miami wanted was John Beck to be able to show he could handle the job till Henne was ready and McCown was the veteren saftey net.

However now that it appears neither McCown nor Beck can handle the job the answer is start Henne or look outside the organization,
hence Pennington he is a player that has familiarity with Parcells,he fits the profile of a bridge QB and he when healthy is a productive NFL QB.

I am not going to make predictions on wins however if miami signs Pennington they will be adding another postive building block to respectability.

Don't give up on Beck just yet, he has looked a lot better in his 2nd week and should only continue to improve. Patience Danielson!

If we need to improve the quarterback spot then why didn't we try to get Favre?

Because Favre never wanted to come here. Geez, some of you got some thick heads about this Favre issue.

Anyways, Miami needs to sign Pennington because at least for this season the team needs a veteran "game manager." Pennington is someone who can do that. Josh McClown is a wild, reckless, clueless, and brainless gunslinger who will wildly throw up passes without rhyme or reason.

Everytime someone gets cut or waived people want him - WHYYYYY? We are REBUILDING!! Get over it. What does a Chad Pennington do for this team? We have 3 guys that had busted thier butts this offseason. They are all potential guys for the future - even McCown is young enough (not good enough most likely) but they are all young QB's to groom. This FO is very smart - they gave Carter a workout because his agent probably called and asked and what did it hurt. You never know if there will be an injury and it maybe lit a fire under Beck to get him moving. It doesn't hurt to investigate but C'MON - people act like Chad makes this team a contender. Stick with young guys as much as possible - especially at QB! You can't go into next year not knowing how Henne or Beck will do in this system in crunch time.

No where in my post did I say that Pennington makes Miami a contender, in fact if you read my post I mention "bridge QB" thats a qb that gets a team from a vet to a young QB, I never said he would make miami win "x" amount of games.

But if you think this team is better with McCown/Beck as the starter instead of Pennington then you dont know football.

Youth doesnt always make you better nor give you a bright future, I left Henne out of the equation because I dont feel Parcells/Ireland intend to start him from day one.

And one more thing its not just "crazy" fans wanting some cast off by all accounts The Dolphins have real interest in Pennington.

Why we must not sign Pennington
There is a reason why a 4-12 team who wasn't going to start him, cut him in the first place. Everyone talks about his stats that happen years ago. Have you forgot about Culpepper and all his stats when he came here? What about Trent Green? You know what they all have in common? They were shells of their former selves, and the team letting them go knew it.

I swear I saw this exact same post somewhere else..:sidelol:

Yes i agree... this starting spot was Becks to lose. But then he is 'NFL young' A true season to develop without pressure may do him well.. and us.

We must have some of the dumbest fans in the NFL. Why would we ever want a quarterback that can not even out throw a high school player on our team. A 32 year old vet that can throw a nice 5 yard pattern. WHY? WHY? The only team noodle arm could beat was the dolphins. Give it a break guys. The 3 QB's on our team will make us way better than this guy. Americans need to learn to be patient.

The jets gave up at least a 3rd to get Farve, working under the assumption that the nfl's iron man that has never missed a game will play in 50% of the teams games.

The dolphins give up no picks or players to get Penny, & they likely pay him more than they will McCown...after the league has MANDATED that they spend more.

I just don't see Pennington helping us win. Teams are already going to be stacking the box against us to see if the offense has more than Ricky and Ronnie. It's the same defensive strategy that teams used to squeeze the Jets. There's a reason the Jets looked to Clemens. He has enough arm to stretch the field. Pennington doesn't.

I see the QB race shaking out in 2 ways:
1. Beck wins the job and the offense gets steadily better as the year goes on. McNown is released at the end of the year, and Beck is our QB of the present (a la Drew Brees in San Diego) and Henne is our QB of the future (a la Phillip Rivers).
2. McNown wins the job and Henne is the #2. McNown starts until around Week 12 and Henne gets the final 4 games to audition.

bringing in pennington is the same bull crap as bringing in trent green last year stupid thing to do we dont need him hes garbage,
