I dont know why everyone on this site seems to think Ted Ginn Jr. is some kind of God. People say "he has mad speed" well so did Troy Williamson (WR from south carolina now with the Vikings 7th overall pick) hows his career going? I guess since the Vikings dont really have a QB that you never hear or see much or Troy Williamson. You dont really hear or see much or Braylon Edwards (3rd overall pick) either do you? possibly because the Browns have no QB?

Ted Ginn Jr. only 6'0" 180.... he is going to get killed in the NFL, he definatly has some durabilty concerns, any WR that is that small... will get hurt almost every season, just like Steve Smith. The only thing Ginn has going for him is his speed, he doesnt have great hands like Dwayne Jarret. Ginn only had 59 receptions this year. compare that to Calvin Johnson who had 76, Dwayne Jarret who had 70 and Jeff Samardija who had 78 receptions. I would pick any of those guys over Ted Ginn Jr, all of those WR's are like half a foot taller than Ted Ginn Jr. I can see Ted Ginn has a return man but that doesnt mean we draft a return man in the 1st round.

What good is it to have a great WR when the QB cant throw him the ball? is Ted Ginn jr. so good that he can throw the ball to himself? if so then he needs to be teaching Randy Moss over in Oakland how to throw the ball to himself so he can get some catches. I wonder why we never see Randy Moss making big plays, probably b/c the Raiders have no QB to throw him the ball!
So by us drafting Ted Ginn jr. (the great) he will suddenly make all of our QB's good? Ted Ginn would have no help at all to our team if we drafted him.

Im pretty sure that Miami had a WR who went to the pro bowl last year....some one by the name of Chris Chambers. Chris Chambers and Marty Booker are good WR's, think about how much stuff they go through every year with different coaches...different offences....differnt QB's, how could any WR be consistant with all that? plus Miami drafted Derek Hagan last year with their 2nd pick in the 3rd round.

The WR position is the most overrated postion in the NFL, the Saints seem to be doing just fine with their WR's.... Terence Copper and a 7th rounder named Marquies Colston. Tom Brady seems to be doing great with his no named WR core.

Miami's biggest needs is.... a better O-line, a QB, and some help in the secondary postion. I think Leon Hall, Laron Landry, and Reggie Nelson should be our main targets, and I bet they will have a greater impact on our team than Ted ginn jr. or Dwayne Jarret will have on any other team

thank you sir. I totally agree with you. I get frustrated with these people who want ginn or jarrett. and I don't know why people keep talking about a "speedster". last time I checked that wasn't a position. it might not be exciting but I think defense and offensive line should be the top priority on draft day.

I agree that Ginn will have to adapt his style for the NFL, especially on returns. But I feel he will hold up as long as his teammates don't tackle him in the endzone.
He's the kind of deep threat that just has to be on the field to mess with coordinators and keep the safeties honest. He's also got the homerun threat on returns to boot.

Yeah that Running Back, Maurice Jones-Drew of Jacksonville, is also probably considered too small at 5'7" and yet he flies by guys trying to tackle him all that time. He is also a great kick returner. Slamming guys just because they are small is bogus. Ginn has unreal speed and will be a success in the NFL.

You are a confused hater...I guess Marvin Harrison, Steve Smith, and even our very own Wes Welker had there funerals this past year right? And Ginn is bigger than all three of them

:rolleyes2

oline will already have been taken care of before the draft...as there is no oline guys worth the #9 pick...

Miami needs to take the best player at 9 or trade down for more picks. First pick will be defense.

We need to take the BPA at 9 of the positions of WR, OT (only if Joe Thomas miraculously drops), DE, DT, OLB, CB, or S.

hey i agree 110 % ginn isnt a good chice we should try to move up and get CJ fron GA tech.

I agree with the initial premise that a wr in rd 1 is just looking for trouble. Its the hardest position to predict success at as judged by the fact it has the highest failure rate of any position since 1980.

Part of that is because there is no way to determine game speed, who gets open vs what coverages, who makes catches regardless of how tight the coverage is....there's just too many variables. Look at marty booker, hes slow, older, yet hes open quite a bit. Ditto Keenan McCardell...hes slow as a turtle but hes always open for a handful of first downs every game. Theres no way to explain it.

comparing a player to another player to make your argument is not logical and your going to lose credibility by doing so,seeing that i have been a huge supporter of drafting Tedd Ginn i will reiterate,

We are drafting at the nine position, our objective is to get the best value at that position, automatically quarterback is out of the question, the two best will be gone by the time we pick, so who would you pick, some phantom QB that i'am not aware of,on to picking oline, come on man,you know joe thomas is not going to be there so what lineman would be worthy? exactly, nobody worth the no. 9 pick.

Tedd Ginn would bring great value at the no. 9 because of three elements he would bring to our franchise,

1}Electrifying speed and skill on the outside, some youth to mix in with our veterans, for the first time in our franchise history,a man that can take a hitch route to the house from 80 yards.

2}His presense and speed will stretch the defense and will allow Mr.brown to physically dominate on the ground, take that 8th man out of the box and we will have a dangerous running back who has more room to run, elementary my dear watson ,elementary.

3}one of the best punt and kick returners college football has ever seen and something this franchise has never had and desperately needs.

What more value could you want i ask,and your not going to change my mind by throwing out troy williamson comparisons

I don't understand

I think we know why (though another WR could be great) we wouldn't take any WR (We need offensive line help, and or QB) in the first round. I think the question should be "Why would we"? :D
