Why Miami WILL beat Pittsburgh.

I am glad everyone is fairly confident in our ability to win this game. In my eyes we are going to get waxed. We are on the road, the Steelers have been playing a lot better recently even with the loss to the Ravens on Thanksgiving. I don't like the way we match-up with them at all. This isn't going to be pretty. I'm thinking we lose by 2 TD's on the road in the cold. Hate on me if you like. We don't have a great history of winning in Pittsburgh in December.

the weather factor is a fair point. We only play a couple of games a year in this type of weather, whilst the Steelers not only play in it more regularly, but train in it & live there. Hence, its only natural for them to be used to it & should adapt much better to these conditions than the Phins.

Plus, its pretty difficult for the Phins to try and recreate this xfactor mid season with little time for preparation. Just hope we stay focused on the game plan & execute accordingly. Their secondary looks aging & suspect against the Ravens.

I think we match up very well with the Steelers. I watched how Balt played them, who are a team very similar to the Fins (tough defense, good pass coverage, low-scoring offense, solid but inconsistent QB with a big arm, underperforming run game). That Steelers defense like the ball in front of them. They're an experienced grizzled unit, but when the Ravens went deep and stretched them, the Steelers had no answer, couldn't contain them. Secondary was suspect all night. Balt committed to the run throughout, even though Ray Rice has had a horrible year. Flacco did big damage out of play action having established the run.

Steelers did get some pass pressure on, so Flacco had to step up in the pocket or buy time, but nothing about the Steelers D-line sets off warning bells. The Ravens shut down the Steelers O until very late in the game, when they stopped covering so tightly and Ben started connecting. The turning point was a run from Bell that he bounced outside for a huge gain. That set up the comeback for Pitt. We can't let Bell get the edge and bounce out.

Ben was very mediocre under centre, quite inaccurate throwing from the pocket for a lot of the time. What Balt focussed on was keeping him coralled and it worked a treat. I don't know that the Ravens D touched Rothlisberger all game. They didn't blitz much - just kept a leash on Ben's escapology tricks and kept tight coverage (for the most part) on his receivers. Up to the final drive, the Steelers had no answer for it. If Tomlin hadn't pulled his stunt and Bell hadn't benefitted from poor tackling to break that run, this could have been a whitewash.

Nothing about that gameplan couldn't be repeated by the Fins. If anything, our pass coverage is better. I would worry about our run D and we need to establish the deep ball, but other than that the Ravens gave us a perfect blueprint for a victory.

Pittsburgh hasn't been playing better they have just been playing bad teams. The defense has gotten old and slow. The only person worth a damn on that side of the ball is Worlids. If LeBeau didn't know every trick in the book as a DC to take advantage of the crappy QB's they have played their record would look a lot worse. Also take into affect that they are using a 3rd string C as well as T and our defensive line should dominate. I look for the Fins to win 27-16 with their only TD coming on a long/broken pass play to Brown.

I really think Wallace is gonna have a big game. They have no one on the defensive side of the ball to combat his speed. I also look for Miller to post a 100 yd game with a TD as their run defense is horrible.

2TDs? Only the Saints have won by more than 10pts on us all year. Our D is very good. Our opponents PPG is 9th in the NFL. If Patterson is healthy we have statistically the best starting CB duo in the NFL with some of the toughest pass rushers. Not to mention their starting Center, whats his name to be decided, will have to face big Paul all game. The last 5 games we are both 3-2, so while they are playing better so are we.

Look, you can feel we have the underhand on this game (which I disagree with) but 2TD loss based on this year's performance is coming out of thin air.

I think we could see 27-10, but in reality we prob win 23-20.

I don't want Miami to feel this is not a must win game. I don't want them to fall in the trap of, "Oh well, if we don't win here, we have 3 more games still." The coaches and players have to realize the playoffs begin in Pittsburgh.

I made a similar post for the Jets game and it was so accurate that I wanted to give it another go.

  • Our defensive frontline should dominate the injury plagued Steeler's offensive line.
  • Big Ben will be elusive and will make big plays for them but our defense has faced better offenses this year than Pittsburgh's.
  • Their defense remains the heart of that team, and though they might be a shell of their former self, that defense always finds a way to make plays.
  • This is Mike Wallace's first return to Pittsburgh and with all the trash talking he did this offseason comparing Big Ben and Tanny, he is going to be eager to dominate. To show Pittsburgh he deserved a $60 million dollar contract.
  • Tannehill has a chance to show what kind of QB he is this week. Can he connect with Mike Wallace deep or will he under throw him yet again? If Tannehill can connect deep on passes this Sunday we could easily dominate this game.
  • We must improve our running game regardless of what team we play, but it has been shown that this team can win when the running game is not dominant.

Hopefully Wallace will keep his mouth shut leading up to the game, every time he made a game about him and someone else he failed to show up for it....hopefully he learned to let his play do the talking for him.....

The early weather forecast against the Jets last week was bad but it turned out to be a great day. The early forecast this week was bad and it just keeps getting worse. Looks like its gonna be cold, wet and windy. We have similar weather here right now and I can tell you your hands get cold pretty ****ing fast in that ****, especially if you haven't been acclimated to this type of weather.

Recent stats showing the effectiveness of our CBs at locking down receivers is another reason why I like this matchup against the Steelers. The Ravens gave us the blueprint - contain Big Ben in the pocket, don't blitz and just set the edge and cover up his outlets. I don't know if Coyle is prepared to be that conservative, but that's the gameplan to use.

Not to toot my own horn but I was pretty much right again this week with my predictions. I will definitely be making another thread like this for the Pats game.
