why arent we targeting any Cornerbacks? reeves signed with houston and florence signed with jacksonville Im taking we really want wilson idk i feell like we should be getting some CB help in FA

wilson can play s and cb. hopefully that gets done. Also the draft looks to have some nice cbs available. parcells is a in the trenches guy. ol and dl will be his focus mostly for now.

I didn't know Reeves signed with Houston. I think we should go after Fabian Washington or Lito Sheppard.

I guess their waiting for the draft to get help at CB. They can probably get a starting quality CB in the 2nd round of the draft that will probably end up being better than some of these free agents.

yeah i agree about the draft part but it never hurts to have depth in that position is all im saying

according to alot of sources this year's draft has alot of good DB's Bill will more likely wait till then to get a couple of them

This draft is supposed to be extremely deep in OT and CB's, so maybe we're targeting them there. They are the two positions we need most, IMO. What if we took two CBs in the first few rounds, we could put ourselves in a good situation for later.

If we do trade Taylor, I say take Chris Long first overall and then use all of the others on OL and DB's (and one somewhere on a MLB, I'd say...)

don't forget about the much needed TE. I'm hoping a day one TE or use our 3rd rounder.

I'm not worried. If we can shore up our front 7 and are able to bring the heat we should be ok without a lock down corner.

Reeves didn't sign with anyone did he?

If so the only available CB's that are worth anything are
Lito Sheppard, Marcus Trufant, Ken Hamlin [don't know if he signed or not], and Randall Gay. If not I think we will be getting one in the draft.

I said this before, but it might bear repeating. I read an article on Parcells when he was still with the Giants. Although he didn't call all the shots there, his firm belief was that you draft "into the strength" of each year's draft. Meaning, if it's a year that's deep in OTs and CBs, if you need them that's the year you load up on them because draft depth pushes better players down to you. The opposite effect would be to reach during a year that was weak for a position you needed. The article went on to point out which years they loaded up on which positions and why. This was in a football mag pre-internet (in it's current form) so I don't have a link to the story.

I would suspect his philosophy is similar today, and we all know how he has surrounded himself with people that share his philosophy. :)

As long as the defensive front seven generates sufficient pressure that takes a world of pressure off of the defensive backfield as far as quality and the need for a shut down corner. With what we have we can probably complete half the puzzle and the 2-3 dbs can come from the draft or who knows what kind of player gets released between now and the beginning of the season that we can easily slot in for little or no cost.

Trufant and Hamlin were franchised and we'd have to trade for Lito.

The thread starter stated Reeves signed with Houston, I didn't hear about it but I guess he did. Trufant is not available, he was franchised. Hamlin was locked up to a long term contract. There have been reports of Lito being on the trading block but there have also been reports about him being the second corner and Brown being moved to safety.
