I am very surprised that to this point we have not addressed the DB situation at least as far as I know. What gives? Is Parcells happy with our DBs? That seems impossible. Daniels has a bit of potential, Will Allen played ok, Goodman is so so at best, Jason Allen has some a glimpse at being decent, Bell is the most talented but getting old and injury prone. The others arent even worht mentioning. Did I miss something? And what about finding someone to replace Thomas. We all know what our D looks like without him. Raiders game anyone?? Someone clarify. Maybe it is that they think our d-line caused all of our defensive issues? I guess it is possible.

Umm, did you not see the LB's we added?

We all know what our D looks l.
Again, have you not seen the additions on Defense via free agency, trades and the draft ?

As far as DB's it's obvious we are fixing the front 7 first. This is a long rebuild process that will take years. You cannot fix everything in one year, it is impossible to do.. Remember we were just a hair short of being 0-16 and we were one of the very worst teams in NFL history last season.. Rome wasn't built in a day, and it's impossible to build a super bowl team in a day as well after they were almost a winless team.

ok let me break down my theory.. its a good one i promise.. ok:

I think that BPs is looking to leave this team in 4 years as a contender... i do not think he is hoping to solve all the issues at hand all at once.. this year he overloaded the lines and is trying to solve the qb issues because they are the BIGGEST concerns... after this year we will re-evaluate our needs and adress them next offseason.. if its DBs and WR then he will overload those positions.. this gives us the best chance of having top notch players at every position because with MORE PLAYERS=BETTER ODDS of having better players.. its like a game of chance.. it also adds much needed depth.. i believe he will use this strategy for the next 4 years.. and when he leaves us we will be THE BEST TEAM IN THE NFL....

WOOO GO DOLPHINS :woot:

This is from Jeff Ireland's press conference on Sunday after the draft ended.

(On if he is comfortable with the Dolphins current secondary) – “We did address some of those things in free agency. I feel comfortable where we are right now. That’s something we have to look at in the future, I’m sure, but right now we feel pretty good about it.â€

The Dolphins have brought in several DBs this off-season to try to address the situation. Whether they will be an improvement over last season remains to be seen.
Nathan Jones (5'10" 183) 5-yrs
Will Billingsley (5'10" 195) Rookie
Joey Thomas (6'1" 190) 3-yrs
Keith Davis (5'11" 207) 6-yrs
Chris Crocker (5'11" 192) 6-yrs

In a recent press conference, Sparano said that after watching tape, the secondary graded out much better than they expected. You can't look good in the secondary without a pass rush. So, you have to fix the pass rush first. And we had too many needs to address everything.

Plus, when you look at our depth, it's not bad.
CB
Will Allen- named to Dr. Z's (from SI) all pro team
Michael Lehan- who actually played well most of last season
Andre Goodman- who did a really good in coverage in 2006, the last time he was healthy
Nate Jones- brought over from Dallas
Travis Daniels- moved back to CB because of the players added at S

Safety
Chris Crocker- started 46 games the last 3 years, averaging 62 tackles per season. Had 3 INT and 11 passes defensed in 2007.
Yeremiah Bell- coming back from a torn achilles, but a playmaker when healthy
Jason Allen- showed some flashes of being a decent player in 2007. Also made his share of mistakes, still unproven.
Renaldo Hill- coming back from a torn ACL
Keith Rivers- brought in from Dallas, was a starter for them in 2005, called on the toughest players he's ever seen by Sparano

Games are won in the trenches first. We picked up a couple of Key free agent DB's that will help. Chris Crocker S(starter:Atlanta) Nathan Jones CB(Dime). I think our secondary will be fine with the Dline additions that were made. Michael Lehan is a solid nickel and Jason Allen will make mistakes here and there but will shine in others. Yeremiah Bell needs to stay healthy.
