Correct me If I am wrong here.

But our last 4 plays went like this

1st down run time out 2 by panthers.

2nd down run time out 3 by panthers.

3rd down run time out by DOLPHINS???

4th down run by dolphins.

Why did we take a time out after 3rd down. Seems like we should have ran a play and then taken a delay of game which would left the Pathers with maybe 20 seconds on the clock.

we took the timeout with 1 sec on the play clock....if we hadn't we would have given up the 5 yards and the clock would have stopped anyway.

edit: i see what you mean....good point....

we ran the clock down to 1 second before we called a timeout. (notice we ran the 3rd down play with 1:29 left, and called the TO with :44 left)

Miami ran the third down play with 1:29 left. They let the clock run all the way down to 44 seconds and called a timeout. Maybe you didn't know this, but there is a 40 second game clock. So you take 1:29 and subtract 40 seconds, and you get 49 seconds. Now, the time it took to run the 3rd down play, it took 5 seconds off, which was added to that 40 seconds, which takes the clock to 44 seconds. If we took a delay of game, there still would have been 44 seconds left, but Miami would have been backed up 5 more yards.

Honestly, I have no idea what you are even talking about.

I think it should have been snap the ball at 01 left on play clock on the 3rd down run.

4th down now let 30 second clock run down and take the delay of game.

4th down again 5 yards back and punt the panthers further to the end zone

We called the timeout AFTER the 3rd down run, not before. The Panthers called a timeout AFTER the 2nd down run. Ours was right before the 4th down play. I still am confused on what you are trying to say.

I thought we were gonna take the delay of game then punt it but going for it was cool too.....we missed the 4th down conversion but OUR defense stepped up ;) lol

Panthers had called timeout after 2nd down.....so the game clock was stopped....after 3rd down we did run the play-clock down to :01 before calling timeout. There was no way possible for the Dolphins to snap the ball on 4th down with any less than :43 seconds on the game clock.....even if we took a delay of game.

I still believe they should have not called the third down time out even with 01 left on the play clock. Snap at the ball at :01 on third down.

On 4th down let the 30 second play clock run down to :00 and then take a delay of game.

Then punt the ball.

i think our coaches wanted to go for it all along. if they had wanted to punt, they might have given Fields 5 more yards to work with.

it wouldn't have mattered if they let the clock run down to :01 on third down....Carolina had called timeout.

they DID let it run down to :01 on 4th down, then called timeout.....they drained the clock as much as they possibly could have.

I feel like I am stuck in Bizarro World. Whether they took a delay of game or called a timeout, the clock still would have stopped with 44 seconds left. There was no way to run another 30 seconds off.

I didn't see the game. Just wondering if we called the time out on 3rd down or on 4th down. It seems that we called the time out on 4th down which makes sense. The NFL game center is not clear on what really happens.
