Has Sage ever been given a fair opportuniy to prove himself. He has a stong enough arm and can make all the plays. Can he be our QB of the future?

I don't know, I think coaches know something we don't about him. He's been a back up for a reason.

i hope hes the QB of the present (atleast for this year)

No he cant. He has been around for a few seasons now and hasnt done anything to warrant him starting, granted he may not have been given a serious chance but he has never grasped the chance when he had it.

Wow the QB situation is so dire that some folks actually think Sage will be the future of this team? I laugh and point in your general direction! :laughat:

i want him this season and then draft one for next year either Leinart, Jacobs, Young, Tate idk who else there is

I would really of loved to get McPherson or Orlovsky 4-5th round last year

He came in to the league in 2001 with the Redskins, this is only his 5th year. He's been in the league as long as Chambers... Someone posted that Sage studied and worked really hard all offseason with QB coaches or something. Odds are pretty good that he will get a shot at some point this year, we should all hope that he makes the best of it.

Sage can call on parsley, rosemary and thyme for help when he gets blitzed...!

Guys, Gals...quit with the Sage talk...he couldn't even beat out Ears for goodness sake...Sage is promoted to #2 because AJ stunk the joint up last week, not because he is going to "be our future !!!"

Geez...get with the program folks...

Yup!!! Just as I said last year about how it would be the best thing for AJ to work out and end up playing great(eventhough I didn't like him that much and didn't think he'd succeed) But still, the best thing for this team would be for a QB already on our roster to take charge and become a quality starter. This way we could adress other needs and never have to worry about QB.

Now we will here the Feeley backers saying Sage has no experince, he has never played, he is a backup, while that was said against Feeley and they went nuts!

The program? Sage has started on regular season game and didn't play that bad against the best defense and secondary in the league last year. My question is: Why not? Aj sucks and Gus is not a whole lot better. Why not give Sage a chance? If he sucks then fine, we were wrong. But to have this attitude that you guys already have it figured out is juvenile. Jake Delhomme was in the league a few years and cut by the Saints- the Saints!- and look where he is. People in Charlotte had the same attitude you know-it-alls have. Tommy Maddox was booted from the league and came back to win Comeback Player of the Year honors. We all know the Kurt Warner story. We are not going to be very good this year so why not see if we can find a spark with a young QB already on our roster? Maybe that's the program we- and you- need to get with.

Guys do you realize that if Gus gets hurt we could see alot of Sage? Unless we sign somone else the chances are very good he will start at some point this year.

The chances of Gus making it through the season are minimul. That means Sage will get his chance. If he works hard and prepares he should know the offense. Then he will have no excuses and we will also know if we must make QB our highest priority next off season. I'm betting on high priority next year.

Actually I stand by my statement that all our QB's are mediocre, Wonderboy Sage included. They all have different flaws, but the results are the same.

A.J. has the quickest release, which means the throw will get to the defender faster and give him more time to run to the endzone before anybody can tackle him.

Gus is Gus, inaccurate with the long throws and the weakest arm out of our 3 QB's...which means it will hurt the defenders hands much less when they intercept it.

Sage probably has the strongest arm on the team...which is good because that means it will bounce off the defenders chest more often, causing fewer picks. the preseason game against the Falcons was a perfect example of this, I counted at least 3 passes that were thrown into coverage and should have been picked off, but luckily it was only 3rd string defenders so it just bounced of their chests. Hey so maybe Sage IS the right QB to start.
