why not trade fasano for a wr?

I've never quite figured out why so many fans of crappy teams like the Fins and the Bills think that the way for their teams to get better is to trade away the decent players already on their teams -- or that their teams can't have more than 1 quality guy at a position while at the same time whining about depth.

Fasano is far more valuable to the Fins than anything, either a player or a pick, they could get for him. Even if the Fins could get a top WR for him (NOT gonna happen), what do they do about a blocking TE who can catch some passes??? :ponder: Doh. "Fill" one hole by creating another one is, at best, a wash, but if that new hole results in your QB getting sacked or hurried more, your new WR is worth a lot less, so it's really a net loss.

Never understood this either.

If you trade Fasano for a WR than you don't have one single true TE on the roster. Zero. I will never understand the lack of love around here for Fasano.

Unless you are talking about Mike Wallace from the Steelers....No thank you. Keep Fasano.

Fasano's value to our team outweighs anything we could get in retrun for him. So we may as well keep him at this point. But at some point we are going to have to consider upgrading our TE position. Especially with a young QB. Fasano is a solid TE, but a dynamic TE can be a young QB's best friend. Between Fasano and Clay we could have the best of both worlds at the position.:ponder:

He has to have some value for TE needy teams let's face it we are pretty solid at te with clay, egnew ,masturd

There's a 99 Percent chance fasano won't be back next year its the last year of his current deal

What you guys think

Since you asked............

We are only stable at TE BECAUSE of Fasano.

There is a very good chance that he could be back and a even greater chance that he will help more this season then any WR can.

I think this is another thread based on a knee jerk reaction by someone that does not understand football.

It's actually pretty funny, and this is not a shot at the idea of getting an asset, how many people think Fasano sucks. I think a lot of recent hate came from him disliking the idea of fans actively wanting their team to lose for Andrew Luck (which ironically, ANDREW LUCK hated the Suck For Luck campaign). The thing is, when Fasano is actively involved in the passing game, we are a better team. Yeah he has similar stats in terms of catches for his 4 years with us, but a lot of those catches came in spurts. He was consistently involved in 2008 and only 2 TEs (Gonzo and Gates) had more TDs than him. The last 3 years we'll go to him for a few games, and then not even look at him. Ironically, when we go to him, we tend to win.

But the other issue is that Fasano does a little of everything while the others have glaring weaknesses. Les Brown and Michael Egnew are potential mismatches with their athleticism but they aren't blockers, Charles Clay is a mismatch, but is too small to be an inline TE, Jeron Masterud IMO did an admirable job the last 2 years as our blocking TE, but he can't catch

I think Fasano is an extremely underrated player. Trading one of our lone bright spots on offense would be pretty silly.

Fasano will probably have a pretty good year statistically. Philbin's offense likes to keep the TEs active and Fasano should get plenty of looks in this offense. I'd rather keep him this year and let him sign elsewhere to set us up for a nice compensatory pick down the road. If he has the season that I expect him to have, he'll want more money than he is worth.

He's worth whatever someone is willing to pay him, be it the Fins or some other team. A blocking TE who's also a reliable receiver is invaluable to both the rushing and passing games.

If the Fins have the cap space and none of the other TEs prove that they can do what Fasano does, then the Fins would be foolish to let him walk. A team does NOT get better by creating more holes that need to be filled.

Man this place just rains down some of the craziest threads.
