Why Ryan Tannehill, Mike Wallace Will Thrive Under New OC Bill Lazor

Wallace in 2013, "886 of his 964 snaps he lined up on the right side of the formation as an outside receiver...
Wallace stayed in the same spot 92 percent of the time." :ponder:

And these days, it would take 6,000 yds and 60 TD's to make the same impression it did 30 years ago.

Wait! What? 30 years ago?!
:jawdrop:
Geez, I'm getting old.

I agree. When Marino put up his 5084 yards and 48 td's I think only two other people passed for 4000 and he threw 5K at 23. Now you see people throw for 5K and people act like what Marino did wasn't a big deal. It is crazy. What Marino did that year was truly phenomenal. To bad he couldn't win the super bowl to cap it off..... :(

That 2 year total yardage is all the more remarkable considering no Keller at all, no Gibson from mid-game 6 on, a bi-polar sometimes useless running game.. and statistically one of the worst OLs in the league in '13 .. coupled with a cast of receivers he had to throw to including Armstrong, Gaffney, Moore, and Legadoodoo Naanee in his rookie season. I'm convinced that not too many QBs could have turned a natural 2nd or 3rd option receiver drafted in the 4th round into a consecutive season 1000 yard producer.

Unless they keep changing the rules... All those flags on PI and holding are making me nervous... its becoming flag football...lol

Entire 2013 pre-season penalties: 18-illegal contact, 36 Defensive holding, 72 PI. (126 total)

Wk 1 2014 pre-season penalties: 27-illegal contact, 53 defensive holding, 15 PI. (95 total)

WOW! That's vomit!

It's all about keeping Ds like Seattle from mugging/stealing a win again from Peyton or other great passers...and passing TDs are what bring all the girls to the yard...so ya.

The nine snaps that Tannehill took on the first drive against the Falcons occurred with the following times left on the play clock: 18, 12, 18, 16, 13, 15, 18, 16 and 13.

I knew we were going fast but I didn't truly realize how fast b/c I couldn't see the game clock. Snapping the ball that quickly will make defenses barf by the 3rd quarter. We better convert those 3rd down though or OUR defense will pay for it. Still this is very encouraging. Lazor and Benton were the best moves of this offseason bar none.

And the TD record he broke was 36. To break the current TD record by 12, a guy would have to throw 67 of them lol.

Which just goes to show even more how impressive of a season he had. Again at the age of 23 in his second season. Just absolutely mind boggling what he did. Best individual passing season of all time. I don't care what Peyton did.

Yeah if Marino had started game one of his rookie season he'd probably be first

If marino played in todays NFL he would destroy all these records.

He played in an era where the qb was not protected, and the WR got mugged.

While I like Tannehill, and believe he is the guy going forward. He should be up there on that yardage list based on his skill, and todays nfl rules.

Dont forget that RT did this all that with a ****ty HC, OC, OL and (removed Sissy) (edited to include No Heart) WR who left him out to dry several times...I am a fan... give him a chance.

TRUE this.

and everyone from media to fans NEVER address that side note. had shula started his prized rookie [whom even the vets said they had never seen a guy throw a ball that that] from the get his rookie year, he is well above those other guys.

CHUBZ: you were on a roll until that statement.

you can say what you want about wallace, but there are NO sisys in the nfl, or college for that matter. a TRUE "sissy" wouldnt be scholorshiped OR drafted. football is a TOUGH, PHYSICAL sport. those who cant take it get weeded out right away, usually in jr. high/hi school.

think YOU could go on an nfl field and make all those pre snap reads of defenses and desipher your route ALL while violent, hard men are bearing down on you and hitting you like a slow moving train everytime you catch it? could YOU do that chubz? i couldnt, and i fear NO man. "sissy" isnt on an nfl field. nor is an arch chair sports fan.

just a far, far off statement on that one chubby. but, the rest of your post was on.

THAT THREAD about how tanny and wallace are going to be improved under lazor had a prediction on their stats at years end and he gave tanny a 63.5 qb rating. i agreed with that writer about all the things he said about them improving and why in lazors offense that MAKES people be open, multiple routes and combinations and motion.

but if tanny only has a 63.5 qb rating, with these players and this creative offense, we are not winning a thing. and he certainly wont be considered any "elite" qb. he SHOULD have in the 90's rating. to much inovation and to many good players for him to not have a 90 rating.

63% was sherman offense. that had to be typo from the article writer. he must have hit the 6 instead of the 9.

It was 63.5% completion rate...not passer rating.

Edit: If his numbers improved that much and he threw the same number of passes as last year, his passer rating would be 92.4.

I disagree, I meant he is a sissy compared to other NFL WR's obviously not normal standards. But you are right... i take back the sissy comment and will add back in No Heart... I am not a fan of Wallace as you can tell :)
