This is my opinion on the starter for the Saints game. We are at the perfect point to make a change at the QB position. Playing a less than stellar Saints D will gave us a chance to see if Sage can hit some deep routes like we have seen him do already. The main difference I see with Gus and Sage is that Sage can throw a better deep ball during game time. Sage has now had two long TD's to Chambers, which is very promising to me. While Sage may throw some bad passes and some interceptions, playing consistently for the rest of the year may help him minimize that. Gus is a great backup to have because he can come in and play a safe game if we need him, but Sage has some flash that this offense desperatly needs. I thought Sage played the Ravens game last year fairly well and thought we was much better than Fiedler and Feeley. At least hand him over the reins for now and see what he can do. We are a 2-4 team that will likely fall short of the playoffs anyway, and we all know that Gus is not our long term answer at QB. So let's rebuild!

I think what's amazing is that Sage's first pass in the last 2 years have both been 70+ yard TD passes to Chris Chambers.

That's probably because both O coordinators thought they could surprise a defense that was expecting the run, hence they pulled out one of the longest pass plays in the playbook.

I could see the first one yes but not the 2nd one. Think about it, we were down big time with about 3 minutes to go. We're not going to bring in the backup to hand the ball off. Plus, we were in the shotgun so you know that's given that most likely we're passing. Let's give Sage some credit!

sage put it right were it needed to be. chambers made a great catch and run.
gus, would of put it some were else. i no he is not the future, but give him a chance . it couldn't hurt. or cuold it:shakeno:

That pass to chambers was in double coverage against the chiefs. Was that a great throw or lucky? W/o the ability to watch the play again I will go with lucky. Chambers had 1 DB on his outside and 1 DB on his inside. So it seems like the coverage was good and throwing into solid double coverage like that will get picks more than TD's on the average. I would guess.

Sage will definitely get his chance to start for us this season, I do believe that. I just don't think it will be this Sunday, I have a feeling Saban will go with Gus. Cleo Lemon will not see a snap this year until it's through injuries. And the ONLY WAY Sage doesn't see the field this year is if Wanny or Linehan take over as coach, Gus goes on a hot streak, or we are in playoff contention... and if two of those three things happen, I'll be happy and wouldn't be seeing threads why Sage should start. But if none of those things happen, Sage will definitely be starting for us... pretty soon maybe just not this Sunday in my honest opinion.

Very true. I belive he only completes that pass 1 out of every 10 times. Especially because we know Chambers isn't exactly adept in fighting for the ball.

I think one reason to start sage is the fact that maybe the players dont have alot of confidence in gus...seems that in practice he is lights out according to CC, but in the game he is very erratic, and seems to have almost no timing with his recievers. Perhaps the best reason to start him is to see what kind of chemistry sage has with these guys.

Sage not only threw into double coverage, Chambers had to go up to get it, and Sage stared Chris down the whole play which may be why their was such tight coverage on Chambers. Some people are putting too much value on the pass.

Although I would like to see Sage get in and FINALLY answer everyones questions of whether he is or is not our answer at QB.

Sage always seemed like the one constant in our search for a QB in the Wanny years, and with him finally getting a shot, we can in a way finally start fresh the search for our future QB with the blurs of Feidler/Lucas/Griese/Feeley finally behind us forever.

I think we'll see Gus this weekend due to the short week of practice because of the hurricane. But one more subpar performance and it's Sage time.

I believe Sage should get his shot. Maybe he does good, great who knows. But we will never know unless he gets a shot. Not only are we going to get a new quarterback for next season, but it might not hurt to see if Sage can stick around to be the back-up for next season. And maybe he will surprise us.

it was a great throw and it was done in a desperate mode. That means you just put it up the best way you know how cus you got nothing to lose.

Listen to me all of you who think Sage is going to save the day! It is much different when you are the guy week in and week out! The offield pressure is a hell of a lot more to deal with and makes everything change. The other thing to consider here is can Sage deal with Linehans calls? At some point, you have to put Sage in for a spark and see how the team reacts, but I see Gus playing a little more, and we go from there. Sage is getting ready on deck however, no doubt about it.

I don't think it could hurt. The reality of the situation is that Sage could throw 3 interceptions and as long as he was moving the ball, give us more of a chance to win. And a lot of people forget that Sage started against a great Ravens D for a team that was in the dumps in every way. When he was trying to drive us to a final score (can't remember if we were in a one score game or not) the linemen wouldn't even try to get to the line to get the snap off. It was like Sage was the only one on offense who cared about that game because it actually meant somethign to him.
