probably both plus the mediocre playcalling

Im tired of blaming the playcalling. I will however blame Saban for actually allowing us to be in shotgun all game long from play one. Pure Stupidity. Joey Harrington deserves a shot. The guy was scoring TD's when he was in in preseason and DC was not. I think the guy has a better handle on the situation right now.

DC is the central problem here because he just is not making big plays at all.

The check down pass Culpepper is throwing is from a lack of confidence. He just doesn't have any confidence to thread the needle. Hasn't showed all year. there will be a change at QB in short order if this doesn't change.

yeah the playcalling is flat out insane its so predictable we need to throw downfield to chambers and booker more often downfield even when they are on one on one they caught hella balls last year like that

yeah so so true it seems he glances downfield and if he sees any kind of oppents jersey we throw a dump off thats probably why brown is up there on recieving for the team

Culpepper doesn't have time to throw the football downfield, that's why Mularkey calls alot of dump passes.

Culpepper shouldn't have been allowed to start from the get go. He just wasn't healthy. Now I'm afraid that if we bench him, he will never get his confidence back and we will have a wasted 2nd rounder on our hands. Harrington was brought in to start, and should have started until Daunte was really healthy. Now we can't go back.

The short dump offs were particularly disturbing today because there were obviously A LOT of one on one match ups with all the blitzing the Texans were doing. Culpepper simply lacks the confidence to make the throws. And from what we've seen after 4 GAMES, it doesn't look to be getting any better. And until it does, our running game will suffer, teams will continue to blitz, and we will continue to lose.

There is no play called for a "dump off pass". That dump off is always there in case the QB can't find any one else down field. In this case, there is a combination of a lot of things that are influencing Culpepper's decision to throw it short. Lack of confidence is the biggest thing right now. And he is very quick to pull the trigger on the short stuff. The line isn't blocking well, Culpepper is slow on his drops and set up, which gives him even less time in the pocket to look downfield...etc. It's a combination of a lot of things. But he had time today more times than not to get the ball to some one on one match ups and he failed to do it. As good as Chambers is, you gotta believe he was open a lot today (again, lots of single coverage) and we weren't getting him the ball.

EXCATLLY i mean teams blitz the piss out of our o line and we throw a 1 yard pass i mean chambers is a playmaker he needs to show it

Do YOU THINK THAT maybe...just MAYBE it's not Mularkey calling ALL the dump passes but Daunte checking down when he finds no one open and the offensive line crumbling around him???????????

Or do you think our offensive coordinator is mentally ******ed and so is our head coach because THEY only call short dump passes all the time.:shakeno:

My point being it's not just 1 persons fault...

Our offensive line sucks(no run blocking and no pass protection) and Daunte cant move and holds on to the ball way longer than he should or have to.He is sacked so often which again puts us in bad field positon which again makes our play calling all the more predictable.

Our wide receivers cannot get open with the time allowed by our poor offensive line and when they do, they seem to be dropping easy passes.

We are in constant bad field position with stupid penalties by,you guessed it our wonderful offensive line.3rd and 20 or 2nd and 15 do make our offense quite predictable.

SO IN CLOSING ITS EVERYONES FAULT INCLUDING OUR COACHES
BUT REMEMBER PLAYERS ARE PAID TO MAKE PLAYS...SO WHERE AND WHO ARE OUR PLAYMAKERS?????:rolleyes2

Get ready for a high draft pick next year

It's impossible to say the reason for the dumpoffs without seeing the game film.

I place 90% of the blame on the Oline. we can't run because they can't block.we can't pass because they can't block. We go shotgun first play today, fake reverse and culpepper was sacked. Barely had time to fake the F#$@ing handoff. That's rediculous. We don't run because it never fails we get into 2nd and 5 or 2nd and 7 and we have a false start penalty. Boom. 2nd and 17. Conveniently... usually our next pass is a 10-12 yard completion, aka what would have been a first down.

Personally, watching the game I thought cpep did just fine. no turnovers, had one exceptional play where he evaded a serious rush and got the ball off for a first down. and got out in front of chambers on a reverse and was blocking.
Find something cpep did today that helped us loose the game, your reaching for straws I think. Harrington would do no better. theres simply no time in the pocket. at least throwing the check downs were gaining yards. Ronnie may even bust one sometime.

there were a handful of dropped balls today, the one booker missed right off his hands could have went for six. maybe if he doesn't fall in endzone(falling for the second or third time in the game) even though ronnies pass was tipped he.. booker may have caught it.

the other 10% is mularkey. theres a reverse in every game. fake it once in awhile or do a reverse pass, mix it up. our reverses only gain us 8-10 yards it seems. I don't know if a two point conversion is the best time to be doing a trick play. Give it to ronnie. POUND the rock. but I guess we don't rush enough anyway. we have absolutely no balance on the play calling. if we dont run we cant control the clock. I think our defense has only given up over 20 pts once this year. We don't have to put up a ton of points to win.
Oline and mularkey need to be sat down by saban and whooped into shape.
