A few laughed when I posted in 2012 (on a thread asking about Tanny's best attributes) that his best value to franchise may be his durability.

while we dont know for sure how Andrew Luck or R Wilson would have fared physically (and PSYCHOLOGICALLY) on this same team, RT's durability has proven to be almost legendary given the abuse he's incurred.
Yes, some of it attributed to his "pocket awareness" granted.

But it may well be that when the RT story finally ends, Miami will look back on that 8th pick and say it really couldnt have been any more fortunate than to get what it got there- given the coaches and the team it had at the time.

RT has weathered the storm and amazing that he continues to get better. I hope it continues and that his
body is not reaping too much in the future what was sown in the early years.

Still would have taken Keuchly and then Wilson in round 2.

Wilson is an excellent QB, but unless we could have paired him with Darrell Bevell and Caroll's defense, he would be in the same perceived boat as Tannehill in terms of team success.

Not to mention broken in half.

Face it: with Failbin and Ireland-Tannenbaum analyzing and acquiring "talent" to surround and protect RT, the number one priority for Miami was "toughest son of a gun in the league" who can take full on body-head-neck shots from the strongest men on the opposing team, and keep getting up. Peeing blood? No problem. Still showing up for work, boss.

that's the only QB that could have made it in MIami the last five years.

One thing I noticed as well is that he makes better decisions on the field. Those hits made him smarter not dumber ironically.

Gase was brought in to fix Tannehills game and Coach him up. We're starting to see results. The longer Ryan is with Gase the better QB he will be. Gase was a brilliant hire. Over all Tannenbaum is starting to look like he has made some very good decisions.

Tbaum had very little to do with the Gase hire.

Wilson was a stud as a rookie. Hed of got us to the playoffs by now. But im happy Tannehill continues to get better every year and has the better upsidep

I am still cautiously hopeful that Tannehill will continue to grow. However, we must bring in real competition for the 2nd QB spot next year. If for nothing else but to be a good backup in case he gets injured (we've been very lucky that Tannehill hasn't been hurt so far).

Some good points here and Gase has helped but nothing has help as much as the o-line getting healthy at last(till now that Albert got hurt again)and having a running game with Ajayi.

Ozzy rules!!

Went back and watched Grudens QB Camp with Tannehill. Enjoyed it very much - but made me think that Tannehill should be ahead of where he is now.

Also think he would be if he'd been drafted by a stable organization.

Wow this discussion was way more civil than I expected. I've been down on t-hill but I'm hoping he'll continue to grow under gase's coaching.

Having a healthier OL and improved OL play and a steamroller in Ajayi has helped tremendously. But you you van also start to see more consistency in technique, accuracy, and dare I say, pocket awareness?? Whatever the recipe, it seems to be working. Let's hope this keeps up for he long haul.
